  • Prefer soft toys
  • Are new to penis sleeves
  • Want a toy to add girth

  • Like firmer toys
  • Don't like plastic toys
  • Want something that's high quality

The Bumpy Ride Penis Sleeve is a soft but textured penis sleeve designed to add some girth and extra stimulation to couples play. It comes with a ball strap to prevent the penis sleeve from slipping off and while the material does feel nice and soft it is porous so it's not 100% body safe. Neither me or my partner are big fans of porous sex toys because there's also that risk that comes with not being able to thoroughly disinfect them. It definitely feels like a lower quality toy and although it's stretchy and easy to use, I'm not convinced this toy would last all that long. The ball strap in particular is quite flimsy. It's great for penis sleeve beginners wanting to know if this sort of couples toy is right for them but beyond that I'd recommend looking for a higher quality penis sleeve that will last and is made from non-porous material.

First Impressions

Straight out of the box, both me and my partner were impressed with the super soft texture of the Bumpy Ride Penis Sleeve. It has an almost jelly-like quality to it. But I could tell this would be a toy that required a decent amount of lube to put on! The transparent finish, the ridges and bumps and the little extra added girth impressed us both but when we started to look a little closer at the penis sleeve, our initial excitement started to slip away a little.

Plastic Is Not Fantastic

Sadly, we discovered the Bumpy Ride Penis Sleeve is made from soft plastic. Unfortunately, plastic sex toys are porous which means that no matter how well you clean them, they can’t ever be fully disinfected like silicone toys can. Over time, bacteria can grow in the tiny holes in the material which makes then a less hygienic choice and not 100% body safe. Both of us prefer silicone toys for the longevity and higher quality, so it was quite disappointing to find that this penis sleeve is plastic. Although it doesn’t come with a big price tag, it does feel a little cheap and the ball strap is quite flimsy. Neither of us were convinced that this is a toy that would stand the test of time.

Boner Booster Fail

The front of the box claims the the Bumpy Ride is a boner booster and I’d be inclined to disagree. For the wearer it does very little. It is a snug fit so there is a little bit of constriction there but nothing to go crazy over and the translucent design is nice for getting a glimpse of the action but beyond that there’s not much else to say for the wearer. Unfortunately, my partner was a bit underwhelmed too. She said the material felt nice and the little extra girth was pleasurable but the material is so soft that the bumps and ridges didn’t provide all that much extra stimulation. A bedroom booster this is not.

Initially, both me and my partner loved the look of the Bumpy Ride. The transparent design and the multitude of bumps and ridges look great put in practice all that texture isn't quite as great as what it might seem. The Bumpy Ride is a very soft toy, it has almost a jelly-like feel too it which we both really like at first but because of that that sensations from the bumps and ridges aren't quite as heightened as they should be and my partner side it just didn't feel quite as good as she had imagined. Design-wise it was simple enough to get the Bumpy Ride on and while it does provide a small amount of constriction for the wearer there's not really anything in the design that makes it all that stimulating for the person wearing it. It does look basic but it's not necessarily a bad thing however it just didn't quite live up to either of our expectations. The transparent design is a nice touch though, so definitely extra points there!

Personally I found this to be a super simple sex toy to use. It does require a decent amount of lube to get it on but gently rolling or sliding the sleeve into place works best. The ball strap definitely helps to keep it in place so it's a much appreciated addition. I'd say this is the perfect introduction to a penis sleeve and if you've been wanting to try one out, it doesn't get much simpler or easier than this. One thing I would say though it that if you have mobility or grip issues this probably won't be the toy for you. Sliding the sleeve on and off is a delicate task and then stretching the ball loop to put your testicles through won't be the easiest of jobs if you have issues with your hands.

Although both me and my partner were initially drawn in by the super soft feel to this toy, once you dig a little deeper you realise the quality just isn't there. It has that typical plastic smell to it and the fact it's made from porous material just cheapens the toy for me. The sleeve hasn't a decent thickness to it but the ball strap seems really flimsy. It doesn't have a great stretch to it but I'm just not sure it would last all that long before showing some signs of wear and tear. The different ridges and bumps seemed like a nice touch on what is a cheaper toy but in practice they were a bit of a let down so didn't add much beyond aesthetics.

For the price, I don't think you can complain too much. It certainly has its downfalls but with that being said it's also one of the cheapest penis sleeves I've ever come across and I think it's totally worth the price tag if you're just wanting to get idea of how you and your partner feel about using a penis sleeve. At this price point I wouldn't really expect anything more than what you get here. A fun, super easy to use, beginner friendly sex toy. However when you look at other similar products, I don't think the price point on this would have needed to be much higher to make this a silicone penis sleeve which would be much better.

When it came to performance, the Bumpy Ride unfortunately fell short of both of our expectations. The online description promises " super-stimulating sensations with the benefit of boosted girth" and while the boosted girth is correct, the super-stimulation sensations were lacking. It's not to say it was terrible but the balance between the soft material and it's ability to give those stronger stimulating sensations just wasn't quite right. Something slightly firmer that maintained a buttery soft texture would have been better. The Bumpy Ride promised to add another level of excitement and enjoyment to shared play and to some extent it did which is why it wasn't a complete fail and why we both agreed it's a decent enough toy for an introduction to penis sleeves. It's comfortable to use for both partners and the transparent colouring was much better than an opaque penis sleeve.

The packaging for the Bumpy Ride is fairly simplistic but for the price I wouldn't really expect anything more. Being a small toy, the packing perfectly reflects the size of the toy and given that there's no storage box, the penis sleeve could easily be stored inside the box without it taking up much room. I do like that the packaging tells you everything that you need to know about the Bumpy Ride. There's a clear image of the toy on the front and a little bit about Lovehoney's mantra on the back. On one side of the box there's simple 4-step instructions on how to use the penis sleeve and on the opposite side a little bit about the features such as the added girth, transparent finish and the extra texture. Given the it has so much information on it, it's certainly not discreet packaging but it's easy to store in a draw or your toy box.

I think it's pretty clear by now that the fact the Bumpy Ride penis sleeve is made from porous material was a huge turn-off for me and my partner. It's made from soft plastic which means that it can't ever be fully disinfected unlike non-porous toys such as silicone penis sleeves. Porous sex toys have small holes in the material where bacteria can grow meaning they aren't 100% body-safe. The idea of this is always a bit off putting for me and my partner. In a more positive note, it is super easy to clean with mild soap and warm water then it can just be left to air-dry. The material is really soft which we both liked and it is a lightweight penis sleeve which was another bonus. In parts though it doesn't seem like the highest quality material, particularly around the ball strap. It doesn't come with a storage bag, but once it's completely dry it fine stored back in the box.

Lovehoney Bumpy Ride Penis Sleeve -

  • Stimulating bumpy texture
  • Easy to use
  • Adds extra girth

  • Made from porous material
  • Not the best quality
  • Too soft for some

The Bumpy Ride Penis Sleeve, isn't a bad choice if you've never ventured into the world of penis sleeves before. It's easy to use, has a nice texture and comes with a really low price tag which is perfect if you unsure whether this is the right partner toy for you. However the quality isn't the best and I can't see this lasting all that long. Also for those with a little more experience with penis sleeves, it might not be the most stimulating toy ever. It doesn't add too much in the way of constriction of stimulation for the wearer and although it does add some girth, the super soft nature of it means the bumps aren't as stimulating for your partner as they could be. It can be used vaginally or anally and the ball strap does help to keep it in place but I personally find the fact that it's made from a porous material a bit off-putting.

There’s no instruction manual available online for the Bumpy Ride penis sleeve, however it is super simple to use and the box does have easy to understand instructions on it. Simply coat the inside of the sleeve with a water-based lube then slide the sleeve down the shaft of the penis. Stretch the ball loop and slip the testicles through it, securing the sleeve in place. Apply plenty of lube to the outside of the sleeve and you’re good to go with your partner play. After, clean the sleeve with mild soap and warm water or sex toy cleaner and leave it to air-dry.

The Bumpy ride is designed to be worn by a penis owner and then used with a partner but it is safe for both vaginal and anal use. It's a great introduction to couples toys if you've never used anything like this before just don't expect too much extra stimulation if you're the one wearing the Bumpy Ride.

No. Sadly the Bumpy ride is a plastic sex toy which means it's porous. Plastic sex toys can ever be fully disinfected and over time bacteria can grow in the small holes in the material. For this reason, it's not a toy I'd recommend keeping in your collection for a long time. The Bumpy Ride is Phthalate-Free but plastic sex toys also aren't as allergen friendly as silicone ones.

A water based lube is best with the Bumpy ride. Whilst it is an easy toy to use, you do need to make sure the inside of the sleeve is well coated with lube before putting it on. You should then also apply a generous amount of lube to the outside of the sleeve before using it with your partner. The Bumpy Ride does add some girth so keep the lube to hand to ensure you both remain comfortable.

Absolutely! Whilst the Bumpy Ride does have its downfalls it's perfect for trying out a penis sleeve for the first time. It's super easy to use, small in size and doesn't cost a lot of money. If you've never used a penis sleeve before and you're unsure if it's the right kind of toy for you and your partner then the Bumpy ride is a great starting point for experimenting with a penis sleeve!

There's no reason why the Bumpy Ride couldn't be used on a strap-on or dildo. Just keep in mind that it has a ball strap so a sex toy with balls would be best for keep the sleeve in place. But no, the Bumpy Ride doesn't have to be used on a penis, it can work with other sex toys.
