Pjur Back Door Water-Based Anal lube is a sexual lubricant that is designed to be used during anal sex, either with a partner or a sex toy. It is a very wet lube, that doesn't become dry or sticky the longer you use it. Pjur Back Door water is a water-based lube meaning that it is compatible with any type of sex toy material or condom type. It comes in a tall plastic bottle, with a screw close lid; it is easy to squeeze and the small opening in the top helps with aiming the lube to your desired location. The packaging leaves nothing to the imagination, with a colourful picture display depicting exactly what this lube is meant for. This lube doesn't stain the skin or bedsheets and it is FDA approved.

In my experience, Pjur lubes are personally either a hit or miss. Some of their designs I love, some I don't. For me, this design is one of the ones I don't like - I think it looks quite cheap and tacky. Firstly, I don't like the green/teal colour - it doesn't appeal to me. The picture of the 'butt' is somewhat fun and cheeky, especially as it is an anal lube, but a little sleezy? I liked the silicone's Back Door Anal bottle, of which is basically the black version of this, but for some reason I don't like the water bottle as much. The colours and the Pjur logo just looks a bit cheap and cartoon like - not very luxurious and something that I could probably make in a graphic design class! it just wasn't something I would like to see when I am looking for a lube - I'm trying to turn myself on, not off!

As this lube is a thin, water based lube, it was very easy to wash off my hands. I liked the way it didn't linger on my skin after I washed it off, as I hate the feeling of being greasy from lube. My preferred choice of lube is a water based lube as I can use whatever sex toy I want with it, including silicone. With this lube, I can pick and choose my sex toys, including my anal toys, as it designed to be cushioning and comfortable enough for anal fun! This lube is very wet and so doesn't become tacky when you use it for a long period of time. In my opinion, this is great for large anal toys, as the last thing you want is for the lube to become slow and sticky! i would have preferred a thicker lube, to provide more cushioning, however the wetness overrules this.

Like all of the Pjur lubes, this lube is FDA approved. I think that regardless of whether or not a lube is designed to be used for oral sex, it is good to have an FDA approval. For me, it puts my mind at ease that the lube is safe to enter by body. The only downfall that I have as a vulva owner, is that this lube contains glycerin. This isn't a massive problem for an anal lube, but glycerin is often bad for vulva owners, due to it increasing the risk of a vaginal infection. As well as a thrown of pH balance, vulva owners are in trouble! Luckily, this lube has a pH of 6, meaning that it is slightly acidic, just like the natural pH of a vagina, so at least this is going to reduce the risk. Pjur have always been a brand that think about what goes inside of their products, making them high quality and conditioning on the skin - I like Pjur as a brand.

For a water based lube that doesn't have many special features, the price of this lube is reasonably expensive. Sure, you will be paying for a good quality lube from a recognisable and established brand, but there are features that doesn't look that luxurious. If i were to be paying this price, I would expect better packaging; something that feels and looks a little more professional and advanced. I would recommend it as a lube, but I would like it to have a more reasonable price tag.

In my experience, anal lubes are thick and often become tacky after a long period of time. They begin to slow down due to an increase in friction, meaning that you often have to re-apply throughout sex. Yet this lube is different - it is not a thick anal lube and is very wet, lasting for the longest is have seen an anal lube last! It doesn't become tacky and I didn't have to once re-apply. Because this lube is so thin, it feel very natural, almost like you're not even using lube! I am typically a fan of thicker lube, but some of them don't feel that natural, taking away some of the intimacy of sex, I feel. If you enjoy being naturally close to your partner, then this lube will imitate that accurately. Despite this lube being designed for anal activities, I would also use it with other sex toys like a Fleshlight or male masturbator.

My favourite design when it comes to lube bottles, is tall. For me, tall bottles look like they have more product in them, to psychologically, I think I am getting more for my money. I know that smaller bottles may be easier to store or travel with, but they are not necessarily that easy to hold. This bottle can be easily held in one hand, or squeezed with both hands. It is made of squeezable plastic, so that the lube can come out easily. The downsides, I really hate screw off lids. Like come on, I don't want to be say there for hours trying to take the lid off, when my hands are already lubed up! At least design the bottle with gipping down the side, so I don't accidentally squeeze the bottle across the room!

This lube is translucent in colour, so when it is on the skin, it doesn't stain it. It doesn't display a colour, only a see-through, shiny liquid on the skin. This is the same for clothes and bedsheets. Although the lube spreads on clothing as it is so wet, once washed in the washing machine, the whole lube is washed out and leaves nothing behind. I would hate to have to throw out my bed clothes because of some lube!

  • Feels natural for an anal lube
  • Reasonable price tag
  • From a reliable, high quality brand

  • Screw lid - hard to use with wet hands
  • Cheap, tacky bottle design
  • Contains glycerin

For someone who doesn't typically use anal lubes, this one I will definitely keep stocked up in my bedside draw! It's pretty much perfect - it's thin enough to feel natural, lasts for ages without re-application and is from a recognisable and high quality brand. It has some minor flaws, like having a cheap, tacky looking design and a somewhat difficult screw off lid as well as a more expensive price tag, but if you're willing to spend a little for a great quality product, then this is one I would highly recommend!
