  • Are looking for a penis pump with simple controls
  • Prefer a battery-powered penis pump
  • Want a penis pump that comes apart for easy cleaning

  • Want a penis pump with multiple suction modes
  • Are over 7 inches in length
  • Are looking for a manual or non-electric penis pump

The Fleshpump consists of three parts that make up the whole unit — something I didn't realize at first, as the pump chamber and pump itself were connected in the box. The suction chamber has markings on the the outer edge in metric and imperial measurements. A little over seven inches is the highest the numbers go before you bump into the pump. Provided with the unit is a supple donut sleeve that wraps around the chamber both to provide airtight suction and to protect your pubic areas and testicles. At first, the sleeve seems a bit thick, at least until you begin pumping. As the air is suctioned out from the chamber, the cylinder begins to be pushed against the groin area fairly hard. The sleeve prevents this cylinder ring from causing much discomfort and has a small enough hole that only the penis fits inside easily.

First Impressions

I was pretty stoked to receive the box and even more so excited about trying out a toy I had been curious about for a while. When I finally got to try it out the first time, I quickly realized I had no idea how I was supposed to use this penis pump safely, nor did I realize how important things like lube were for them. So, let’s start off by saying that, while the Fleshlight Fleshpump comes with instructions on how to operate the device, there isn’t much more info on how you should use the device. I did a bit of research, but even then, I had a few things to learn. My first use was sans lube and it was… well, it just didn’t work that well. Even while wet, you get stuck in the sleeve and the pump can’t pull things in very far which prevents it from doing its job. So use lube. Lots, just like anything else. Be sure to cover the glans and not just the shaft as the head will stick to the chamber walls and not be allowed to move up very well if it touches. It happens. Ultimately, this forced me to let it charge which didn’t take very long as it already had some juice. I also learned right about this time that the chamber and pump come apart which make for very simple cleaning.

Then What?

The next time was with lube, and folks, everything worked seamlessly. As there are only two buttons, I found it super easy to control and use to the point it almost became mindless. Please, for all that is exists in this world, don’t forget you are using an automatic pump that needs you to turn it off. It is powerful enough to hurt and damage your pride and glory, so be conscious of how long the pump goes and how your body feels. Above, I mentioned two buttons, one for turning the pump on and off, and the other for releasing the vacuum. While it doesn’t have any modes, you can let the pump run continuously and use the vacuum release as you desire to create a sort of self-controlled program for pumping. You will notice pretty quickly that the vacuum action inside can cause a bit of temperature difference which in turn sometimes fogs up the plastic, especially if you’re using it during a hot shower. It’s not that important, but it was something I learned along the way. If you are using it near water, keep it mind it should not be submerged, though water splashes are okay. If you are hoping this item could double as a masturbator sleeve, well, it’s not really the best for that purpose. When the pump is still attached to the suction chamber, there is too much pressure resistance to slip in and out. Taking the pump off allows for some limited use in this manner, but it only touches about an inch of skin around the shaft at any given time.

Now, the Fleshpump's design is rather minimalistic and plain, but that's fine as this is more of a utility item. The plain black pump body fits comfortably in hand as well as the suction chamber if you decide to hold there. As both are plastic, they can get slippery if a splash of lube get on them. Overall, the unit looks like it means business, and not like it's going to be a party.

As I mentioned the Fleshlight Fleshpump has some basic operating instructions, and as also mentioned there are only two buttons. One turns the pump on and off, the other releases pressure. During a pumping session the donut sleeve and suction chamber suction to the groin area, so at least that part of the unit isn't going anywhere. The pump side feels only slightly odd as it then becomes the heavier side and to watch your measurements, you have to hold it up. For anyone concerned about grip issues, I believe you could use the Fleshpump as long as you can keep it still while resting the pump on something. So long as you can push buttons to turn off and on, you should be solid without holding it in hand.

So how loud does this thing get and are the materials good quality? Easy answer. The pump is relatively quiet. If you are in the room you are likely to hear it, but not likely with in an adjacent room. You might also be able to hear it in a shower setting, though I'd say it's not louder than the water but instead a different sound. The only concern I have about the unit is dropping it. I'm not sure how the pump would fair from a fall, though I'm sure the suction chamber could handle a tumble. If anything I'm more concerned about it getting crushed in my drawer if it sticks up. So far, it has proved itself very reliable.

But how does the Fleshpump rank when it comes to price? Taking a look around at similar electric pumps, it is on the high end of the spectrum. Almost double other relatively similar offerings from other companies. So what sets it apart? While looking around I noticed most units don't offer a similar donut sleeve that gives the same level of cushion, and though I haven't tried the competitors, I can't imagine using a pump and feel as comfortable as I do without that extra cushion. While it's supposed to come with lube in box, there isn't much else included other than a charging cable. So while all the other aspects of the pump have been excellent, I wouldn't count the cost as palatable.

Let me start off with how crazy the battery on the Fleshpump has been. I charged it when I initially received it, and used it daily for a week to a week and a half without charging again. During that time it didn't lose power until right when it died. So if you want long lasting, here it is. The suction power has remained at the same constant level, and the suction release has worked equally well. So far there have not been any battery overheating issues, clogs in the motor, or anything else go wrong with it. It has one job and it does it quite well. Oh, and if you are worried about it turning on, you are in luck because it has a travel lock!

Some packaging inspires a whimsy, some packaging feels a bit off, some packaging might even inspire or create a feeling of magic somehow. Not this one. The Fleshpump's box was to the point, giving info about the product but not really trying to create any special interaction with the purchaser. However, I feel the box and contents fit the pump itself: simple and does what it was meant to do.

Okay, so that donut sleeve I mentioned? Here is was I can tell you about it. Per Fleshlight's website, it's made from 100% phthalate-free polymer materials but... I can't get much more information directly about their product than that. Other sites don't give much better information, so at this point, I wouldn't jump and say it's non-porous or safe for internal use. The rest is made of hard plastic for sure. So, clean your product folks. Whatever the actual composition, the donut is very soft and make the experience much better than it would be without. Cleaning the pump is incredibly easy as it all breaks down for super simple washing. Use a cleaner meant for sex toys and wash all surface well before rinsing with warm water. The suction chamber might be a little harder to reach in the middle, but a typical bottle scrubber makes short work of that issue.

The Fleshlight Fleshpump was a first for me, not gonna lie. Being the first, it has been a great penis pump that is beyond easy to use, simple, and effective. Two buttons. Simple suction and release control. That's it. The developer and design team must have come together and said, "Hey, let's make a product that people will actually want." They managed it for sure. The pump comes in three parts: the suction/vacuum unit, a see-through tube with wonderfully easy-to-read markings up to seven inches, and a donut-shaped sleeve that protects the rest of your body from getting sucked into nothingness. Incredibly, that was the most important part to me.
