The KinkLab Neon Wand is a thrilling electrostimulation toy that allows you to give a zap of electricity anywhere on the body (external use only)! It's mains powered and comes with four different shape electrodes that slip into the unit. It's a solid state device, which makes it more stable and means you can use it at any angle. When you turn it on the electrodes glow and it emits a loud buzzing sound that will make you shiver in anticipation! The Neon Wand is a great tool for sensation play, power play, and sexual punishment!
A Shocking Party Trick
This is my first experience of electrostimulation of any kind but I was excited to experience a new sensation. Opening up the case made me feel like a mad scientist, a very kinky mad scientist anyway! The first time I fired up the Neon Wand was actually my birthday party when my curious friends wanted to try it out! Being the gracious host I am, I obliged and gave each willing victim a zap on the arm or leg. When you turn it on it makes a loud buzzing noise, similar to a tattoo gun, and glows purple, giving it quite a menacing look. However, everyone agreed that it really didn’t feel like much on the skin. I was a little disappointed by it at first and hoped that it would feel more intense on more sensitive areas.It’s Bark is Definitely Worse Than It’s Bite
When it got down to using it during sex, I let my partner take full control of where they chose to use it. I could definitely feel it more on the nipples but it wasn’t painful, even on full power. It did have more of a sharp, tingly, zapping feeling on more intimate areas around the vulva and between the butt cheeks, it felt particularly nice when mixed with some oral stimulation between zaps. We definitely noticed that it was more intense when the tip was held a little away from the skin. Plus, seeing the sparks added to the excitement.A Fun Power Play and Punishment Accessory
While the zapping did add an exciting sensation, the psychological element was by far the most exciting part of using this toy. I loved not knowing where or when my partner would choose to use it. It also makes a great punishment tool for naughty subs! I loved using it with my Sportsheets Under Bed Restraints for some squirmy teasing play!
I have mixed feelings about the design of the Neon Wand. I love that the glass electrodes glow purple, as together with the medical vibe, it looks pretty intimidating. It's also really nice that you get four different shaped electrodes (Electrode Comb, Mushroom Tube, 90° Probe, Tongue Tube), as they fit better on different areas of the body. The smaller tipped electrodes feel more intense than the comb and are good for more targeted stimulation, whereas the mushroom and comb are great for slowly trailing over the skin. I'm not such a fan on the handle design. It's bulky, and I think the design could be a little more elegant overall. There are two color choices available: the black and red handle comes with a purple glowing light and the white handle makes the electrode glow red.
I was pleasantly surprised by just how easy it was to get started with the Neon Wand, and I love that you can use it all over the body. Having never tried electrostimulation before, I was a little intimidating by it but this is a great beginners toy! You simply slot your desired electrode into the handle unit (only do this while the machine is turned off), and then you can turn it on and adjust the intensity using the dial on the bottom of the handle. The booklet also has very clear instructions and safety precautions.
I'm very impressed by just how sturdy the Neon Wand feels. I'm very clumsy so was a bit worried about how long the glass electrodes would survive but they are pretty strong. The handle unit also feels very well-made, and the wand maintains a good connection whichever angle you hold it.
Although the Neon Wand isn't a cheap sex toy, I would say this a very reasonable price, as you are getting a whole kit with five different attachments. Plus, once you have it, you can buy additional attachments. I'm really interested in trying the KinkLab Power Tripper as it allows you to shock a partner just by touching them. There's also a flogger attachment that looks fun!
I was very unsure what to expect from the KinkLab Neon Wand. At first, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more powerful but once I figured out how fun it could be for power play and punishment, I didn't mind that it wasn't super intense. For me the anticipation and psychological stimulation offered made up for it! KinkLab do state that the NeonWand shouldn't be used for more than 25-30 minutes, they don't say why but I'm guessing it can cause the wand to overheat.
I really like that the Neon Wand comes in a nice flip top presentation box. Inside the box there is a foam insert with a specific space for each piece so the electrodes don't bump around in the box. As well as being great for storage, it makes it easy to find each piece while you are using the wand. Plus, there's another sheet of foam to put over the pieces to stop the lid bumping them. The box is also nice and sturdy.
You should never get the electrical elements of the Neon Wand wet. The glass electrodes can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and soap/sex toy cleaner after use. Make sure they are fully dry and store them back in the box.

In terms of sensation, I wouldn't say the KinkLab Neon Wand is the most exciting toy, but when it comes to power play and punishment it comes into its own. In the hands of s dominant partner, the intimidating look and feel can really enhance feelings of submission! If you are looking for fun, not too painful, electrostimulation toy to enhance a Dom/sub dynamic, I would say this is a great place to start. It's also great that you can use it all over the body!
