Ben Wa Balls? Yoni Eggs? Vaginal Beads? A Lelo Luna Kegel Bead by Any Name Would Feel as Sweet

I didn’t know what to expect from the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads. In all honesty, the only knowledge I had about ben wa balls or any other kind of vaginal beads was that: One, they can help strengthen your pelvic floor, which is great for folks who may have leakage issues or just generally want better vaginal health. Two, there’s a lot unknown about the origin of these, most of what’s out there is pretty culturally insensitive and mythological. And three, there’s a spicy scene in Fifty Shades Darker with a set of stainless-steel ones. When I opened up the package, I was shocked to see that not only were the balls bigger than I had expected, but they also looked a little cheap to me. The Lelo Luna Kegel Beads come with 4 weighted balls, two pink and two blue, where one of each color has a retrieval string to fit into the silicone harness. Holding the balls in my hand they felt a little fragile, like they’d crack under pressure, and reminded me a lot of gashapon balls like you’d get at the mall. However, these plastic pals are sturdy and kept me pleasantly surprised each time I tried them!

It’s Kind of Like a Tampon –You Definitely Feel Something Down There

I tested my new Luna Beads in a couple different ways. First, I laid down and tried out some Kegel exercises. Inserting them, no matter which set I used, was a bit painful and awkward. I had to push them inside, kind of like inserting a couple of tampons without an applicator. Once they were in, I was a little disappointed because I hardly felt them, at least like in the way one would feel a dildo. Instead, I just grew more aware of a bit of extra weight inside of me. So, I tried walking around at home with them! Doing Kegel exercises was so much easier standing, as I could better feel the ‘vibration’ of the weight in the balls that way. Not only was it great exercise for my pelvic muscles, but it was fun and teasing as the weights were arousing, even without a lot of feeling, and it was hot to be doing something a little sexual while just doing household chores. Masturbating with the Lelo Luna Kegel Balls was a fun experience too. Laying down, like with the exercises, made it difficult to feel the balls inside me. However, even though I couldn’t feel them as much, I was still getting super aroused, especially with the heavier blue balls. Also, my enjoyment of these beads (and my love of fantasy sex toys) might have sparked an interest in trying an oviposition toy in the future. Who’s to say!

Lelo Luna Kegel Beads -

The Lelo Luna Kegel Beads are, in a word, cute. They're simple, but undoubtedly unique. While I do enjoy the sleek and modern look, they don't really compare to some of Lelo's bestsellers in the same way. Not only that, but for the price point I'd expect them to look a little more pretty rather than something out of a gym or toy vending machine. Then again, these are for a mode of exercising so maybe that's just a personal preference.

Ideally, all you need to do with the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads is pop the balls into the harness and insert them into your body. Getting the ball with the string into the harness is a bit of a task, but with some lube already on them it makes it easier to turn the ball in the harness to get the string through the top. It is also awkward to insert them, and I found myself having to use my old tampon muscle memory to do so. Even though these Kegel beads are a little frustrating to maneuver, they're still easy enough to use after a quick learning curve.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads. While their design looks a little cheap to me, it's clear that these are well made and made to last! The plastic is sturdy, and the silicone is soft and easy to bend and wrap around the balls. I was also concerned that I'd be able to hear the weights in the balls move around while inserted, but they ended up being practically silent.

Lelo is a great brand that prides itself on their luxury sex toys, and luxury often means a higher price point. For their Luna Kegel Beads, that is the case. While these aren't very pricey compared to some of Lelo's other toys, they are more expensive than other similar Kegel beads on the market. Personally, I think they're a little too expensive to be so cheap-looking and simple, but to each their own!

I love using my Lelo Luna Kegel Beads. They do what they're meant to and aren't as distracting as I thought they would be! They're quiet, easy to use, and allow for a lot of flexibility. I get to choose what weights I want to use, getting to mix match colors and even use one ball solo if I'd like. While I was imagining these beads to almost force Kegel contractions, I'm grateful that I have more control over how I exercise or feel pleasure with them.

Lelo's unmistakable packaging is sleek, modern, and super sexy. Within it is a manual, a warranty pamphlet, a packet of water-based Lelo lubricant, a toy bag, and the Kegel beads themselves. I love the packaging that the Luna Kegel Beads come in, the glistening window and cushioned box are gorgeous. I've always been a fan of Lelo's packaging. It is a luxury toy brand, I would expect nothing less from them, especially for the price point on this toy!

The Lelo Luna Kegel Beads are made from ABS plastic and medical-grade silicone (as well as a bit of string and the weights, of course). While I feel that the quality could be better for the illustrious brand, they are still well made. They are non-porous, body-safe, and easy to care for! Feel free to use your toy cleaner of choice, or just some warm and soapy water to clean them before and after each use.

Lelo Luna Kegel Beads -

The Lelo Luna Kegel Beads are unique compared to other ben wa ball-style toys. The ability to differentiate the weights is a great way to take the toys’ possibilities into your hands! When starting out with these beads, try out the lighter weighted pink balls and work your way up to having two blue balls in the harness. It’s a great way to routinely exercise your pelvic floor by changing it up with the varying weights.

  • Customizable experience with different weight options
  • Easy to clean
  • Body safe materials
  • Intensifies orgasms
  • Strengthens the pelvic floor

  • Bigger balls than you might realize
  • Awkward process to insert them
  • Looks like they're on the cheaper side
  • Could be difficult to use for folks with mobility issues
  • Might want to check with a doctor before using these if you have pelvic floor or vaginal canal issues

I love the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads! While they weren't what I expected them to be, they are still a useful tool and are great for foreplay teasing and enhancing orgasms. They really surprised me, with the ability to customize my experience and use them in such a variety of ways. I know that these are going to be great for strengthening my own pelvic floor over time and are a great extra help in the bedroom. I wouldn't recommend them to absolute beginners, due to the size of the balls, or folks looking for a set of Kegel beads on a budget, as you really are paying for the Lelo brand in this circumstance. Either way, these are a great addition to my collection and hope that others will enjoy the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads too!

These Kegel beads are unique in the sense that they have different sized weights for you to better strengthen your pelvic floor over time! Oftentimes, similar toys come as stainless silver balls, semi-precious gemstones, or silicone vibrating eggs. These have a unique look and give you more versatility!

While the weights in the balls give the feeling of small vibrations inside of your body, there is NO motor inside of the Lelo Luna Kegel Beads, so keep that in mind when deciding to purchase these or not.

Make sure to use a water-based lubricant for your set of beads due to the harness being made from silicone, and a silicone lube would deteriorate the materials.

There isn't a lot of information on how long one should or shouldn't use Kegel beads. Thankfully, Lelo recommends you use your set in 30-minute intervals!

Anyone can use Lelo Luna Kegel Beads, so long as they're only being used vaginally! From older folks to folks who have had vaginoplasty, cis or trans, anyone with a vagina who is looking to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles can use these. You may want to check with a doctor before trying these if you have a history of pelvic floor issues. Please do not use these anally, as they do not have a flared base to prevent them from getting sucked up and lost in your colon.
