The Doc Johnson Bloom is an automatic pump that comes with four different, interchangeable heads. These heads are designed to fit over your whole vulva, the clitoral area or just a nipple. There are 7 levels of suction intensity to choose from, as well as 7 vibration modes that can be used with or without suction.

Surprisingly Strong Suction

I’ve tried quite a few clitoral suction toys before, and one toy with a pussy pump, but none of these compare with the power of the Doc Johnson Bloom. The first time I tried it out, I wanted to give all four of the cups a go, so I started with the largest one and worked my way through them. I very quickly realized that this baby was powerful! Since my only other pump experience was with the Fantasy for Her Ultimate Pleasure Pro, which uses suction patterns that go up and down, I found myself panicking a little when the suction didn’t let up! However, there is an accessible air-release button that you can use to relieve pressure and control the levels to your liking. When using the two larger cups on my whole vulva, I had to use this button a lot or it got quite painful on my outer labia. But, when I switched to the smaller cups on my clit, I had no issues and actually turned the suction intensity up to the max! On my nipples, the strong suction combined with the smallest cup wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d hoped, and it was a bit annoying that I could only do one at a time.

Out-of-This-World Orgasms

When I’m playing solo, I usually prefer a toy that can get me there quickly. But, I really enjoyed playing around with the Bloom for an extended session. The longer I went, the more intense I could go and the more pleasurable it felt. I switched on the vibrations, not expecting much, but was greeted with surprisingly powerful and rumbly vibrations. They’re nowhere close to the rumbliness of the We-Vibe Tango X, but are still very enjoyable and add even more stimulation to an already very stimulating experience. My favorite cup was the second smallest, and I raised the suction level enough that I could use it hands-free! Though, I enjoyed it most when I held it and moved it against my body so that I could feel the vibrations deeper. It ended in a truly spectacular orgasm — I was speechless for quite a while afterward.

They've definitely designed the Bloom to look more like a medical device than a sex toy. There's nothing wrong with that necessarily, and I actually think it looks quite nice, if a bit simple. It comes in a few different colors, though the body is always white. I really like that this pump comes with four different cups, which are great for different body parts but also work for lots of different body shapes.

I definitely think that there's a learning curve with the Doc Johnson Bloom. The actual controls are very simple, since all you need to do is slide on a suction cup and then press and hold a button. There are two buttons to control the suction and the vibrations, and you simply keep pressing them to cycle through all the different speeds and patterns (though they can actually be quite hard to press!). However, the learning curve comes with figuring out how it works best for you, and how to use the air-release button to release pressure when it gets too much. Familiarize yourself with that button, because you'll almost certainly want to use it when you're starting out.

The Bloom is surprisingly sturdy and well-made, especially for a Doc Johnson product. They aren't exactly known for high-quality toys, but I can't find anything in particular to mark down this one for! The materials are all body-safe and feel nice to touch, it doesn't feel like any of the parts could break easily, and I didn't have any functional issues either.

Depending on where you look, the Bloom can cost around $75-$160. That's a really big range, so I would recommend searching around different shops to find the best deal. I'm not sure I can say that it's worth $160, but anything around $100 or under would be worth it to me. I really enjoyed this toy, and I think the quality and the four different heads make it a fantastic investment. For your money, you also get a charging cable and a storage pouch.

After reading a lot of very mixed reviews online, I truly didn't know what to expect of this pussy pump. However, my experiences were almost universally positive, and I would encourage you to give it a go if you're curious. The suction was strong but modifiable using the air-release button, and the vibrations were powerful and fairly rumbly. The battery life could be a little better, but it's not too bad either. If you're expecting the same sensation as a clit sucker toy like the Satisfyer Pro 2 or a Womanizer, you should know that it is quite different, but still a lot of fun.

I have totally neutral feelings about this packaging. It's clean and white, and has a photo of the product on the front with some information on the back. There's nothing explicitly sexual, which is nice if you want to keep the packaging or storage or throw it away discreetly. However, since it comes with a storage pouch, you don't really need to keep the box.

The body of the Bloom is made from ABS plastic, and the cups are made from clear ABS with removable silicone rims. All of these materials are non-porous and body-safe. The body is splashproof but not fully waterproof, so you can use it in the shower and rinse it under the faucet, but avoid fully submerging it under water. Since the cups are all detachable, you can submerge them all you like! Separate the cups from the silicone rims and wash everything thoroughly with warm (not hot) water and unscented soap. You can also boil the silicone rims to sterilize them, but do not boil the cups themselves as they are likely to deform at high heats.

  • Comes with four different-sized suction cups
  • Strong suction
  • Powerful, fairly rumbly vibrations
  • Air-release valve

  • Learning curve
  • Suction may be too strong for some
  • No suction patterns

The Doc Johnson Bloom was a true revelation for me, and ended up giving me some unforgettable sensations. The suction and vibrations are powerful and pleasurable, and the option to try out four different sized cups was a real game-changer. While it may not become an everyday toy for me, I can see myself reaching for it whenever I want a drawn-out self pleasure session that ends in fireworks. It's also a great toy to increase sensitivity in the clitoris, labia and nipples — I really appreciated that I could build up my sensitivity to an explosive orgasm, rather just reaching for a powerful vibrator every time!
