  • Don't like shiny and pretty toys

If you're looking to jazz up the down-under with some razzle-dazzle, the Lovehoney Secret Shine Iridescent butt plug just might fill that missing hole in your life! It's sleek, rounded spade-shaped body gives it a smooth, gentle glide on entrance, while the flared base gives you peace of mind that it will stay in place, and not travel too far up the canal. The colour is so pretty and almost mesmerizing to look at; and don't even get me started on how the gem on the bottom gleams! The Lovehoney jewelled plug also has a satisfying weight to it, giving the right amount of pressure in all the right spots. Small in size, it's comfortable to wear for long periods at a time; running errands, going out for dinner, or even going into the office just got a whole lot brighter!

First Impressions

Upon opening this shiny gem, I noticed the lustrous colours of the iridescence, and the sparkle of the jewel on the flared bottom. The metal is smooth, cool to the touch, and the tapered tip slides with ease with a little bit of lubrication. This specific plug is a size small, making the largest circumference 3.75 inches, 2.5 inches of insertable length, and a total of 3 inches in length altogether! I typically prefer the medium or larger sized plugs but this lil’ guy was pleasantly surprising!

Getting a Closer Look

Another thing that was obvious to me right away was the weight, for something being so small, I wasn’t expecting it to be slightly on the heavier side! I enjoy a bit of heaviness as I find it makes the entire experience a bit more enjoyable. If you want to spice up your metal plug play, placing it in a bowl of cold water or warm water will change the temperature of the plug! I’ve done it once or twice before and it creates a fun new twist on plug play! Unlike other plugs I own, this plug does not rub my skin uncomfortably. I find plugs that have the heart shape gem or other shapes of gems, put pressure on the skin, which for me, makes wearing them for a longer period of time get uncomfortable quite quickly! I really like how this one sits and feels on my sensitive skin and would highly recommend this shape for anyone who has more sensitivity in those areas.

In Conclusion

This plug is perfect for anyone wanting to try anal play for the first time; its small, gentle and comfortable to wear! It’s very easy to use, and feels great once it’s in place! The sparkle adds some elegance and the gem isn’t too big, but flared enough that you can be confident that it won’t go anywhere it’s not wanted, so you and your partner can enjoy your sexy time!

The Lovehoney Jewelled plug looks very luxurious to me personally! The iridescent colours are so pretty and blend together so nicely; the shine from the gemstone really makes me smile, my other plugs definitely don't shine like this one does! I do enjoy the design, its tapered at the top, and as I stated above the shape of the flared bottom works so well for me, but my only quarrel with this plug is it's a bit too small! I would absolutely buy a bigger version of the Lovehoney Jewelled plug!

One of my favourite things about using anal plugs is the simplicity of them. They are easy to use and don't particularly need an instruction manual! Wash and cleanse before using, add your preferred amount of lubrication and insert into the rectum. Take your time and relax; relaxing is key to enjoying anal play! I personally think anyone with mobility or grip issues might have a harder time inserting a plug on their own, but I think it would still be doable if the motivation was there! Since the Lovehoney Jewelled plug is metal, you can use any kind of lubricant with it, instead of specified ones like silicone where its the best and safest to use a water-based lubricant only! Though my favourite will forever be water-based lube!

I feel the Lovehoney Jewelled plug is reasonably good quality for its price. The stone doesn't look like a cheap dollar store gem and the metal feels solid with a good heaviness to it. The shape is sturdy and very comfortable to wear; to me, this says the Lovehoney Jewelled Plug is a bit higher up on the quality scale then some plugs are!

The LoveHoney Jewelled plug is $26.99 US and $36.95 CAD; comparing this plug to others I have paid for, I'd say it's a bit more on the expensive end for the price. I've bought a set of 3 Jewelled plugs for $50 CAD, with similar quality as this one; for the size I think it should be a bit cheaper. Though the quality of the plug is great, I'd expect something a bit more for $26-$36. It does come with an instruction manual with 6 different languages, unfortunately English is not one of them.

All the reviews I read on this specific plug were very positive and specified that it would be fantastic for beginners. I was hesitant to use it at first as I felt it'd be too small and simply slide out, to my amazement I was wrong and most certainly impressed with it! It is most certainly a great way for beginners to get comfortable with anal play, but also a fun thing to wear out for errands if you're more on the experienced side! For me, with a little bit of lubrication it slid in effortlessly, zero pain, and settled in nicely.

The packaging is fairly basic, but has a good chunk of colour and description on it ; more so then other toys' packaging I have bought. The plug arrived very secure inside the box; it was wrapped in tissue paper, and then placed snug inside a cardboard cutout, which was then put inside the regular packaging. This was probably my favourite part of the packaging since MANY of my toys have come with very little protection for the product.

The Lovehoney is a non-porous, stainless steel metal plug. It's extremely easy to clean, and store if you have a secret spot for all your toys; a storage bag in not included with it. Cleaning it is as simple as some warm water, soap and your favourite toy cleaner! Just remember to dry and store it away!

Lovehoney Jewelled Iridescent Metal Butt Plug -

  • Perfect for beginners
  • Very little to no pain
  • Pretty to look at!
  • Doesn't irritate the skin

  • On the small side
  • A bit expensive
  • Instructions weren't in English

To sum it all up, I think if your wanting to try out anal pay, anal training or just want to have something smaller in your plug collection, the LoveHoney Jewelled plug is for you! It's small, adds pressure in all the proper places and doesn't hurt on entry; or after being in for long periods of playtime. The iridescent colour, gleam of the stone and the feeling the weight of the metal make this gem of a plug worth it!

There are many sites instructing how to use an anal plug, but I recommend this article from Lovehoney explaining what a plug is, how to use one, and different ways/benefits of using a plug.

This really depends on your personal pain levels, I find this specific plug does not hurt, but larger metal plugs can be a big more on the painful side if you're not used to it.

Reading reviews online, the majority of plug users say the biggest difference is weight between the 3 materials. I personally have only used silicone and metal plugs, and for me its the weight and the texture. Silicone feels more natural and soft, whereas metal has a cooler, more solid sensation. There is definitely a huge difference in weight as well from metal and silicone. Silicone is lighter, and doesn't get the same effect for me as metal does.

Metal plugs clean like a dream. Warm water, soap, and a toy cleaner does the trick effortlessly.

This is a hard question to answer as there's so many different opinions on this topic. Most health practitioners suggest to wear the plug for a maximum of 3 hours at a time, but long time anal play lovers will say it varies from person to person and how often you use a plug in the first place. I myself can go more then a few hours with no issues!
