One Toy: Many Ways to Play
We were excited to try the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple’s Massager. I’ve seen these C-shaped couple’s vibrators for a while and was curious about them. The first impression of the packaging was that it seemed well built, although opening the box left me wanting a little more. This is more of an entry-level toy, so it lacked some of the glitz of the higher-end vibrators in terms of instructions and extras in the box. However, the instructions did indicate some ideas for uses, one of which I hadn’t considered, which was to use it as a solo toy for myself…Trying it Alone: Boy-Time
The instructions for the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple’s Massager suggested that it could be wrapped around the penis shaft for solo stimulation. I hadn’t even considered this, so I was curious about this option. While hard, I wrapped the “C” around the base of my shaft and played with the settings. It was an interesting sensation, and quite pleasant, although not Earth-shattering. I did really like the last vibration pattern, which is a sort of “rumble” more than a “buzz”, and it helped me get off, although I don’t know that it would be a go-to for me when playing solo.Trying it Alone: Girl-Time
My partner was very interested to try this type of toy, and overall, she enjoyed the sensations. Easy to insert and simple to change patterns, she quickly was able to ramp up her arousal using this toy. Although the sensations were nice, my partner found the vibrations overwhelming after a while, and found that, internally, it did nothing for her. As for me, the vibrations were nice during penetration, but I didn’t find that they added anything spectacular to the experience.Final Thoughts…
For us, overall this toy was what we would call a “good” but not “great” experience. It’s not that the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple’s Massager did nothing for us, however it didn’t give us any experiences that really wowed us either. For some couples, this may be the perfect addition to their playtime, but for us, it didn’t add enough spice to get us extremely excited about it.
The Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple's Massager is well designed overall. It is supple and flexible, and seems to be made of robust materials. The magnetic charging connector is a nice touch and helps to remind us that it is waterproof. The one button is simple to access, and the toy inserts easily. Although the toy seems well designed, the packaging lacks that extra oomph (like a storage bag or clearer instructions) that set apart high end toys from more entry level toys like this one.
Overall, the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple's Massager was easy to use. It was easily inserted, and the button to change modes is well placed for changing on the fly. However, with only one button, you had to cycle through all 7 modes to find the one you were in the mood for. Simple to recharge, with a magnetic changing adapter (included). This is a great toy for beginners, as there is very little to learn, and its versatility makes exploring a breeze.
For it's price, the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple's Massager is good quality. Yes, it lacks the extra frills of the higher end toys, but considering this one costs 2-3 times less than some of the competitors, we were impressed with the quality of materials and craftsmanship.
The Mon Ami Couples Massager is well priced considering it's competition. You are paying for the toy, no frills. No storage bag, simple features... It's an entry level toy for this type of "c-style" vibrator, which is not necessarily a bad thing. When trying out a new style of toy, sometimes being able to get a cheaper version of it is enough to let you know if you enjoy it, without breaking the bank.
For us, this is where the Lovehoney mon ami Wearable Couple's Massager fell a little short. The vibrations were varied, which was nice (I personally liked the "rumble" setting), and it was a great toy to get the juices flowing, however as a main event, it wasn't the experience either of us thought it could be. Although my partner enjoyed the vibrations, she prefers a little more friction in terms of clitoral stimulation, so it didn't get her over the edge. She also felt that it's design did little for her g-spot stimulation. The vibrations were pleasant during penetration for me, but not enough to say that it's a feeling I crave or long for. There is also no way to adjust the strength of vibration for the patterns, which was a little disappointing. So although it was enjoyable to experiment with, the mon ami will not make it into our regular rotation.
The box itself is nicely designed, but that's about it. The instructions are sparse, with little explanation or elaboration about the toy. There are some pictures in the instructions of suggested usage, but the manual is not something I feel anyone would keep, unlike some other toys I've reviewed. Look, overall the packaging is not the worst I've seen, but it's not the best either. I feel it is very "mid-range" which is where this toy sits in my head. A solid, mid-range vibrator.
The Mon Ami Couples Massager is made of body-safe silicone. They say that it is free from phthalates, BPA, and made without latex, and the feel of the toy is very nice and smooth. The quality of the materials is quite good. I wouldn't qualify it as "high-end" but the material didn't feel cheap either. It is waterproof (IPX7: which means it can be submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter) and is really easy to clean. I was disappointed that it didn't come with any storage bag though. I find small touches like that make a huge difference.

For us, however, it was more of an appetizer than a main meal. It falls into the category of "good", not "great".
