Hey, I’m Not Trying To Be a Douche About It…
… But the Lovehoney Anal Douche was a bit “meh” to me. It works just fine and gets job done, yes. No problem there. If you’re just looking for something cheap that doesn’t look hideous, it’s actually perfect! I just know that there are some anal douches out there with ergonomic tips made of soft, flexible silicone, and anal douches made of non-porous materials that can be sterilized! So, when I encounter this simple device (that honestly looks very sleek with the all-black design) I am slightly disappointed by the rubber and the hard, plastic tip.
A Question of Quality?
When I was assembling the anal douche at first, I noticed a small blemish in the rubber near the tip of the bulb. It’s very small and insignificant to its performance, but it wasn’t a great sign of the quality for me. Secondly, putting the plastic tip into the bulb itself was much more work than I am willing to put into assembling an anal douche! The tip seemed way to big for the hole in the bulb and I actually had to use lube to make it go in properly. From that point on, it was smooth sailing but I wasn’t excited about the fact that I wouldn’t be able to sterilize all the components after I was done.
The design is actually the best part of the Lovehoney Anal Douche, in my opinion! The sleek, all-black design was a good choice. However, it's exactly what most basic anal douches look like. If I used an anal douche on a regular basis I may have preferred something with more of an ergonomic (or even pleasurable) tip.
The Lovehoney Anal Douche works just like any other anal douche with a squeezable bulb. While these have quite a learning curve, it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. What wasn't easy at all, was getting the tip into the hole in the bulb. Although, using lube for this definitely helped!
I'm not thoroughly impressed by the quality of the Lovehoney Anal Douche. Apart from the small blemish in the rubber bulb and the discrepancy between the tip and the size of the hole it needs to go into, I mostly dislike the porous materials. I wish it were made of silicone so each component could be sterilized between use.
For around $20, you could actually get an anal douche made of silicone. But the Lovehoney Anal Douche is often on sale for around $13 instead. Again, if you're on a budget, I definitely think this one will get the job done just fine.
Since it's shaped exactly like most other classic anal douches on the market, the Lovehoney Anal Douche doesn't stand out in terms of performance either. It's effective and simple to use. But my personal problem with most anal douches like this is the stiff plastic tip. A more flexible silicone one would be ideal for me.
The packaging for the Lovehoney Anal Douche is very simple. It comes disassembled in a cardboard box. On the box is an image of the anal douche and some additional information about the product. On the side, there's a brief step-by-step guide to using the anal douche.
The materials are maybe my least favorite thing about the Lovehoney Anal Douche. The bulb is made of rubber and the tip is made of hard plastic. Since it comes into contact with the rectum regularly, I really wish the components could be sterilized in between uses. Instead, they can be cleaning with warm water and soap or sex toy cleaner, and left out to dry completely before storing it away.

The Lovehoney Anal Douche is fine for what it needs to do but I'm not that impressed, to be honest. I do like the simple, all-black design and it works just fine, but I've definitely seen better quality anal douches out there. I was expecting a silicone bulb but this one is made of "high-quality rubber". I know that most cheap anal douches aren't made of 100% non-porous materials. For something that's going to be in contact with your rectum regularly, I wish it could be sterilized or be non-porous, at the least. But if you're on a tight budget and you don't mind the materials, it definitely gets job done.
