Lovehoney mon ami Remote Control Love Egg Review
Naomi Morgan
The Love Egg is a remote-controlled, rechargeable, waterproof egg vibrator with 3 speeds and 7 patterns (10 modes in all). It comes with a magnetic USB charger and a travel lock feature. The Love Egg is covered in pink silicone that its product page boasts is latex-free and phthalate-free. It has two controls: the single button on the tail of the egg vibrator, or its plastic remote control (also with a single button). Lovehoney says it is ergonomic, and I'm not quite sure how that works with an egg vibrator, but it definitely is a slim design that's easy to insert.
First Impressions
I was excited to try the Lovehoney mon ami Love Egg since I’ve never tried an egg vibrator before. The experience was different than I expected, but despite that, I’ve enjoyed trying it out a lot. It took me a little while to make sure I understood how the controls worked, but once I got it, it was easy to remember. The vibrations were less intense than what I would’ve thought, but that’s probably due to the fact I’m personally not very sensitive to internal vibration. Most other reviewers online seem to praise the strength of it. I feel like the Love Egg delivered on exactly what it promised. My personal favorite activity with it is using it while showering to prepare for some solo time, or using it an another external vibrator at the same time for more intense orgasms.Public Play Potential
It’s a very fun little toy to keep on while doing other things, like chores or showering, but I was a bit disappointed by the runtime. The product page and user guide says it runs for 50 minutes when fully charged, though I found it actually ran a little longer (more like 60-70 minutes) which was a pleasant surprise, but doesn’t allow for much background use without recharging. If you’re looking for a toy with a strong battery to last for extended play, this isn’t the one, but for most users looking for a toy to use during masturbation or date night games, it’s more than enough. I also never tested it in public since it was just a little too loud for me to be comfortable walking to and from places, just in case, but I think it would be plenty suitable for moderate-to-loud environments for short bursts of fun, either solo or with a partner.
The mon ami Love Egg is a typical egg vibrator in design: it has a rounded vibrator attached to a cord that makes removal of the toy easy. At the end of the cord is a button to turn the egg on or off, to cycle through patterns, and to turn on the travel lock. It has a slightly more elongated, pointed tip on the egg than others and the light pink silicone makes it feel very cute. Egg vibrators in general are pretty simple with not much variation besides material and quality of the vibrations themselves so there's little else to say outside of that. I do wish the egg was a bit thicker and rounded, but that's personal preference. If you prefer slim insertable toys, this is a good fit for you.
The Love Egg has very simple controls, as it only has two buttons to juggle: one on the remote control, and one on the egg itself. Both actually serve the same function, so the user can choose which they want to control the toy with. It did take me about ten minutes to make sure I understood the controls, since different combinations control both the on/off switch, cycling through vibrations/patterns, and the travel lock mechanic, and at least one other button would make it more convenient, but reading the user instructions should be all that's required to understand it. I think anyone could manage it, but experience with other single-button sex toys would be recommended. I also appreciate that the tail for retrieving the mon ami Love Egg is fairly long compared to some other egg vibrators, but if you prefer deeper stimulation, or find it hard to grip thin cords, it may be harder to fish out. The button on the tail is also fairly small, and not very clear through touch alone.
The Love Egg definitely feels like a good quality toy, solid and soft. I was worried for a while that the cord would be more fragile but in all my handling of the toy, so far nothing has broken. The silicone is a good quality and feels velvety soft, and the rhe remote control, which is just plastic, feels surprisingly nice despite that. The product page for it on Lovehoney's website says that it is discreet, which is true, since the vibrations are quiet enough to be covered by most background noise, like conversation, running water, or an air conditioner, however I wouldn't test it up close and in an extremely quiet area. One thing I noticed is that, like all remote controls, the controller is sometimes finicky about when it registers inputs, which means practice of the angle of the remote is probably required before using it in public play.
The mon ami Love Egg is priced at $64.99, and comes with the egg vibrator itself, the controller, and the USB charging cord. It's a moderate price for an egg vibrator, and much cheaper than some of the popular luxury egg vibrators. The main difference I see in it and egg vibrators with lower costs is the material quality, which would definitely up the price, though I'm not sure you get much more in function than an egg vibrator going for around $40. If you want a regular, good quality egg vibrator and don't want to shell out over a hundred dollars for one, this is probably your best bet, but if you're looking specifically for more functions or an easier time on your wallet, I think going twenty dollars higher or lower would be a better choice. The mon ami is a respectable egg vibrator, but doesn't feel especially unique.
The mon ami did the best thing it could've done, which is live up to its promises. It's a good quality, decent egg vibrator that works and feels good. It's a little louder than I expected, but far quieter than most of my external vibrators. It never gets hot or painful to the touch, and had both a longer battery life and shorter charging time than in the user instructions. I consider that a good deal.
The packaging is a miss for me. It comes in a general cardboard box with purple accents displaying the product with a quick summary of the toy, pictures of it, the brand and name, and some general brief safety disclaimers on various sides of the box. It's one of those boxes that acts as a sleeve you can pull the internal cardboard insert out of from one side, and there's a plastic screen showing the mon ami Love Egg and controller inside the cut-outs. You remove this, lift up another internal section and some foam, and find the USB charging cord, and the safety/usage booklets. Personally, I don't like throwing away the boxes for my toys to store them, and I found all the layers in this kind of packaging annoying, but there isn't very much plastic or other waste. If you're looking for a discreet or luxurious storage box, this isn't it, but it's functional, if a bit tedious.
The vibrating egg itself is made of body-safe, latex-free and phthalate-free pink silicone, and the remote is made of some sort of lightweight pink plastic. Since the Love Egg is completely waterproof, cleaning it is as easy as washing it with soap and running water or the average toy cleaner. It doesn't come with any sort of storage, but it's small enough to find a place to stash easily.

The mon ami Love Egg is part of Lovehoney's mon ami collection, with one of almost every kind of vibrator, and represents the egg vibrator among the collection. It's a respectable egg vibrator with quality materials that will last and won't be easily damaged. It has both decent strength of vibrations and is quiet in most situations. I don't think it's ideal for public play like other egg vibrators are, but it's a very fun toy to use while carrying out other tasks around the house to spice up chores, or to just make orgasms stronger in regular masturbation sessions. It's slim enough to be used by plenty of people. While I wish it had one more button to make the controls more convenient, it's still easily understood in mechanics. As my introduction to egg vibrators, I found nothing about it that turned me off to the idea of exploring more egg vibrators in the future, which I consider a good sign.
