- Want some sex position inspiration
- Are in a heterosexual relationship
- Are physically able to get into a range of different positions
- Want same-sex sex positions
- Are looking for more diverse representation
The Lovehoney Postion of the Week Cards contain 52 cards with different sex positions on — one every week of the year! Each card has an illustration showing the position on one side and an explanation on the other. They also have tips to make the position better and a space for you to give it a rating out of 5.
I like trying out new positions, and even though I have researched and written about what feels like every sex position under the sun, I’m still guilty of sticking to a few favorites! I feel like having a set of cards with prompts on is more likely to actually come into play than having to look up a position online. It’s also more fun to sit and look through with a partner. Having looked through, there are quite a few that we are up for trying — some because they look pleasurable and some for the laughs! We enjoy a challenge and both think sex can and should be funny (when you are laughing together of course)! There were a few positions that were strikingly similar and one or two that I’m pretty sure will end in disaster, so I don’t think we’ll complete the full 52! I was also a bit disappointed by how heteronormative the cards are. Many of the positions are designed with straight sized bodies in mind and there are some that will only work for couples of a similar height.
I think aesthetically speaking, the cards have a fine design. I like that they have illustrations rather than real people because I think it's incredibly hard to take sex position photos that aren't incredibly cringey! I also love that there's a little star rating on the back of the card for you and your partner to rate the position out of 5. Not only is it fun, but it encourages you and your partner to have a little post sex debrief, which is a valuable part of aftercare. Now, what I didn't like was that the cards were very gendered and heteronormative. The cards are pink and blue and only have illustrations of heterosexual couples. The welcome card does say that the positions can be adapted for anal or strap-on sex too, but this feels like an after thought. It would be great to see more diversity in the illustrations or have different sets of cards for different relationship configurations.
It goes without saying that the cards themselves are easy to use! You can pick randomly from the whole pack or sort through to find ones you'd like to try. The positions range in difficulty with some being very basic and easy positions to more difficult ones! I would say I'm relatively strong and flexible — I do yoga and CrossFit, but there are a few that I wouldn't even bother trying.
The cards themselves feel very nice and like they'll last a long time. They also come in a nice sturdy box. I do feel like they got a bit lazy in terms of the positions at times. For example, the Hand it to Him and the Bottoms Up positions are almost identical. Also, is it really necessary to have Doggy Style and Doggy on the Bed?
At under $15, these cards are a pretty cheap investment. If you enjoy having physical prompts and are looking to spice things up, they could be a fun addition to your toolbox.
Overall, I would say these position cards lived up to what I was expecting, but my expectations weren't super high to begin with. I think these types of cards can add a little novelty to sex, especially if you are just starting to broaden your sex position horizons. However, if you are already pretty adventurous, they might not be the most exciting.
The cards come in a sturdy flip top box that seems like it will last well. I like that the design isn't tacky or overly explicit. I did think it was excessive that both the box and the cards inside came wrapped in plastic.
The cards and box are made of card with a glossy finish.

- One position for each week of the year
- Good range of difficulties
- Nicely made
- Tasteful illustrations
- Fun star rating on each card
- Gendered and heteronormative
- Some repetition
- A couple of poses that seem physically impossible
I think these cards can be a fun way to get a bit more creative with sex positions, especially if you aren't usually too adventurous. It's nice to have the cards to look through with a partner. They lose marks for not being inclusive and a bit of repetition though.
