The Esca 2 from OhMiBod is a remote-controlled egg vibrator that thoroughly surprised me! This bright purple vibe is designed for internal g-spot rumbles, and is absolutely perfect for being teased by your partner or for spicing up any everyday activity. It's rechargeable, made from 100% body-safe materials and has one of the most easy-to-use apps that I've ever encountered. And best of all, it's budget-friendly!

OhMiBod Esca 2 -

One Cracking Vibrator!

Okay, that will be my only egg pun in this review, I promise. The OhMiBod Esca 2 surprised me in so many ways, and I really enjoyed testing it out. I’d been considering getting some kind of wearable g-spot vibe for a while, and always had this purple egg in the back of my mind, but was a little afraid of whether it would really be as fun and pleasurable as I hoped. To cut to the chase: in almost every way, it was! The Esca 2 is a really fun little toy for teasing and foreplay, and the anticipation that it creates made it rocket up the list of my favorite sex toys.

Awesome App Controls

The first thing I did with the Esca 2 was to test out the OhMiBod app controls. I don’t use app-controlled toys hardly at all, so it always takes me a little time to figure out how to connect a toy and what the different app options do. Often, it’s a bit of a laborious process to sync up a toy for the first time, so imagine my surprise when I turned on the toy, opened the app, and BAM, it was ready to go. The app has options to sync the vibrations to music, ambient sounds or even your pulse rate (if you connect it to your Apple Watch), and has some ready-made patterns to test out. It also has modes called ‘Tap’ and ‘Touch’, where you can make it vibrate at the touch of a finger. Both me and my partner found it really easy and intuitive to use, and it’s also very simple to have a partner control it from their phone.

The Limitations

I can very rarely orgasm from internal stimulation alone, and the Esca 2’s vibrations do not travel down the tail to provide any clit stimulation. While that may be a deal-breaker for some, especially if you’re looking for a sex toy that can really get you off, for me it wasn’t such a big deal. I enjoyed using this vibrator as a kind of foreplay, or for a little extra hands-free internal stimulation during my solo sessions with the We-Vibe Tango X. While I was initially a little disappointed that the tail didn’t offer me any pleasure, I soon embraced what this egg vibe can do instead. The other issue I encountered was the app connectivity, which can occasionally be a bit patchy. It cut out once or twice when I walked too far away from my phone, and seemed to happen mostly when I was wearing clothes on top of it. However, it’s very simple to reconnect the toy if this does happen. The final thing is the light on the tail — why did they put that there? Fortunately, it’s easy to turn off.

A Budget-Friendly Lush 3 Alternative

I would absolutely recommend this toy if you love the idea of a wearable vibe like the infamous Lovense Lush 3, but aren’t so thrilled about the price. It does almost everything that the Lush 3 can do, including the cam-performance features, and I think it’s actually a bit easier to use. In fact, it can even connect to other OhMiBod or Kiiroo toys, if you or your partner own one. I enjoyed wearing it around the house, especially while working from home, and with its flexible tail, you can easily wear it while sitting down or under clothes. For public play, the OhMiBod Esca 2 may even be preferable, since it is so incredibly quiet! The biggest difference is probably the power of the vibrations, which the Esca 2 does lack. However, if you, like me, aren’t looking to reach the Big O with a toy like this, then it’s still super fun to use.

OhMiBod Esca 2 -

The OhMiBod Esca 2 has a smooth egg shape, with a long flexible tail that has a plastic orb on the end, where the power button is situated. The tip of the egg is slightly tapered for easier insertion, and the tail wraps around your body once inserted for a more discreet look. I'm personally not the biggest fan of purple, but the overall design is still quite appealing to me. I still have no idea why they chose to make the tail light up, but luckily that's very easy to turn off.

In terms of app-controlled toys, this is the easiest one I've used by far! You just hold down the power button on the toy until it turns on, then open the OhMiBod Remote app (make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone) and the Esca 2 will connect automatically. They have tutorials in-app to show you how to use each feature, including how to let other people control the toy. I did experience some connection losses while using it, but it will just re-establish the connection automatically without you having to do anything. In terms of the toy itself, it should be easy for most people to insert, especially if you add a little lube, and its hands-free design is great for those with mobility issues.

The Esca 2 actually surprised me with how high-quality it felt! The silicone is soft and smooth, and the construction is very solid. It doesn't seem quite as luxurious as some other brands like LELO or We-Vibe, but it also doesn't have the same high-end price tag either.

The OhMiBod Esca 2 is sold in most stores for around $70, which I think is extremely reasonable for what it is. For comparison, the Lovense Lush 3 and the We-Vibe Jive are available at the same places for around $130. For your money, you get the toy, a USB charging cable and a satin storage pouch to keep it safe and clean between uses.

The vibrations that the Esca 2 produces were not that mind-blowing to me, but I also didn't see that as the point of this toy. They were rumbly enough to get me really turned on, and it was so thrilling to have my partner control them for me. The tail was also too long to nestle next to my clitoris for that extra orgasmic boost, but the vibrations don't really travel that far down the tail anyway. For me, it was a fantastic warm-up toy. To charge the toy, you need to find a small pinprick hole and pierce it with the pin on the charging cord. Once it's done charging, you can take the pin out and it will reseal itself, becoming fully waterproof again.

OhMiBod's packaging is not the most beautiful, but it's nice and professional-looking enough. It has a picture of the Esca 2 on the front, so it's not the most discreet if you wanted to keep the box to store the toy in. Since it also comes with a storage bag, I recycled it as soon as I took these photos.

The Esca 2 is made from body-safe silicone and ABS plastic. There's a small band of plastic around the neck of the egg that does create a seam, but it's nice and smooth, so I didn't feel it all while using it. The toy is fully waterproof, so you can easily wash it with some warm water and a mild, unscented soap. Then, either dry it with a clean towel or let it air-dry before storing in the accompanying pouch.

The OhMiBod Esca 2’s most special feature is clearly its app controls. Since I knew from the start that this was a fantastic toy for building anticipation, I was really excited to have my partner try this out with me. I got him set up with the app and an account, and then I just had to invite him to control the toy when I was using it. The feeling of having someone else play around with the controls and see my reaction was really something! Other than my initial test of the different functions, I didn’t bother with the music or sound syncing, so we stuck to the ‘Touch’ and ‘Tap’ modes. Since the vibes are not overly powerful, it worked fine to stick to the highest vibration speeds.

  • Incredibly intuitive and easy-to-use app
  • Can be controlled from anywhere in the world
  • Almost silent vibrations
  • Body-safe materials
  • Budget-friendly

  • Vibrations could be stronger
  • Doesn't offer much clitoral stimulation
  • Only comes in one color
  • Some issues with connectivity

Like I mentioned previously, I was surprised at how much I found myself enjoying this toy. Despite its lack of clitoral stimulation and less-than-overwhelming vibration intensity, I really enjoyed wearing it and got a lot of pleasure from using it. This is a great example of how context and imagination can do so much for a sex toy, because just the thought of using it excites me! It was incredibly simple to get the hang of, even with app controls, so the barrier to entry is almost on the floor. If you've been dreaming of a wearable vibe like this, or are simply curious at the thought of one, I highly recommend the Esca 2 — it will certainly offer you plenty of bang for your buck!

The Lush 3 and the Esca 2 are actually surprisingly similar! The OhMiBod app has almost all of the same functions as the Lovense Remote app, as well as an option to sync the vibes to your heart rate. It's also a similar size, though the tail is slightly larger and has the plastic tip at the end. The biggest difference is the intensity of the vibrations — the Lush 3 does have higher speeds.

Yes, the Esca 2 can be controlled manually, by your own phone via Bluetooth, or from another phone anywhere in the world (with internet access) via WiFi.

Yes, the OhMiBod Esca 2 may actually one of the best toys around for public play, since it is so incredibly quiet. Just keep in mind that the app connectivity can be a little temperamental, so stay close by. And yes, you can turn the light off to keep things discreet.

The original Esca and the Esca 2 may look pretty identical from the outside, but the Esca 2 does have a more powerful motor inside. The battery life is also twice as long, and the toy uses the more updated and sophisticated Bluetooth 4.1 system. Additionally, the first Esca model didn't have an option to turn off the tail light.

No, the Esca 2 doesn't offer much in the way of clitoral stimulation. The vibrations do not really travel up the tail at all, even when it's pressed against your body. This is a toy designed for internal stimulation only. However, it's easy to combine it with a compact clitoral vibrator!

For the life of me, I have no idea why they stuck a light at the end of the tail of the Esca 2. Fortunately, it's really easy to turn off. When the toy is on and in Bluetooth mode, simply press the power button twice in quick succession and the light will turn off.

The charging port can be a little hard to find on the Esca 2, but it's there if you look closely. On one side of the main egg body is a small pinprick hole, with a small circle around it. Simply pierce that hold with the charging jack until it's fully plugged in, and then charge normally. When you're done, remove the charger and the hole will 're-seal' itself.
