  • like clitoral stimulation
  • enjoy a large variation in intensity
  • want a simple, easy-to-use toy

  • like to have stimulation in varying rhythms
  • want a toy to use during PiV sex
  • prefer more complex functunality

This is a fairly sleek and simple clitoral suction toy. The plus and minus button takes you through 10 different levels of intensity. It uses a small pin to recharge, and the head can be removed to be washed with toy cleaner and water. Though mainly intended and designed for clitoral use, the manual also suggest use on the thighs and nipples, as well as hinting at possible uses on a partner with a penis, though it is unspecific on this and would depend on the person's preferences.

The pleasurable side

I was generally really happy with the Romp Shine X Clitoral Suction Stimulator and will definitely use it for self-pleasure in the future. As someone who is not a fan of pulsating rhythms and patterns, I liked that it was simple to vary the intensity and there was no risk of accidentally pushing the button one time to many and going from the verge of orgasm to some sort of Morse Code message being tapped out on my clit. I tried it a few times, and generally tended to orgasm by the 5th-7th intensity level, which means you get a nice build-up to the more intense sensation. The only real downside to this clit sucker toy, I felt, was that the head felt larger than it needed to be. I did not try using the toy with penis in vagina sex, but I think I would struggle to find the space. I did notice that, when I orgasmed and naturally squeezed my legs together, it felt a bit bulky between my thighs. The manual suggested using it for thigh and nipple stimulation, and I tried both of these. On my thighs it just felt like a somewhat ineffective massage gun, and not particularly sexy. On my nipples it felt very intense – and though I generally have mixed feelings about nipple stimulation, if you or someone you’re having sex with enjoys it I think this could be a good option.

The practical side

When I first plugged this toy in it was a bit scary – the pin to charge it is very narrow and it’s quite difficult to penetrate the small hole at the end (pun very much intended). I did worry I was going to break the charging pin, and I had to push it past a point where it didn’t feel like it was going in very easily. The toy is waterproof and easy to clean with toy cleaner – the mouth bit comes off to do this. However, I found myself wondering, “Why does it have this removable mouth?”. It doesn’t seem to add any extra sensation that other similar toys without it don’t give, and it’s just another bit of toy to be sitting about in the bathroom to dry and increases the number of crevices to clean. Generally though, despite all my waffling, it’s a very simple toy to use and look after!

Feels and looks good, though I'm not sure the extra piece on the mouth is strictly necessary and is just another thing to clean. I personally like pink, but I feel like it would be nice to have some colour variation in clit toys that doesn't feel so stereotypically gendered.

The ROMP Shine X Clitoral Suction Stimulator was super easy to use – just up and down buttons to control the intensity, though some with reduced hand strength may struggle with holding the buttons down for longer periods to turn it on and off. Additionally, the charging pin takes a bit of pushing in – more than feels secure (I definitely worried I'd break it before it started)

This feels generally good quality – only having had it for a short time it is hard to tell it's durability, but it feels light but also sturdy. The level of noise obviously depends on the intensity used, but I generally did not find it overly loud.

It's a really decent price for a toy of this quality. Sure, it doesn't have a lot of features, but those features are often unnecessary anyway. And the fun sticker pack is a nice plus.

The ROMP Shine X Clitoral Suction Stimulator charged quickly and felt good – no complaints about performance.

I thought the packaging was sleek and fun, and the inside only contained one clear plastic tray which held the toy, instead of a lot of unnecessary plastic wrap and bagging.

The toy itself is lighter than similar toys I own. It is waterproof and easy to clean – you just pull off the mouth and use some toy cleaner and water. However, it unfortunately doesn't come with anything to store the toy in, which is always a bit annoying if you want to pack it in a bag to take to a partner's home or on holiday.

  • simple
  • waterproof
  • high intensity

  • a bit bulky at head
  • unnecessary removable mouth
  • no additional features

This is a really easy-to-use, beginner-friendly clitoral stimulation toy. The plus and minus buttons are all you to raise and lower the intensity, it's sleek and smooth, and pretty powerful, and easy to disassemble and clean. The mouth/head of the toy is a bit larger than in some others, so may be tricky to use with penis-in-vagina sex, but a great solo masturbation option. The stickers it comes with are cute too!

There’s no manual available for the ROMP Shine X Clitoral Suction Stimulator, but it has a simple two button control. For best results, use a small amount of water-based lubrication to help get a good seal around the clitoris.

Yes, it's fully submersible, meaning you can use it in the bath or shower.

As it's made from silicone, you should stick to water-based lubrication.

It is quite powerful, but it has a good range of settings, making it good for beginners and more advanced users as well.

Due to it's shape, it's not the best to use during penetrative sex.
