- need some inspiration for new BDSM positions
- are in a heterosexual relationship
- already have some experience with bondage
- cannot tolerate the hetero-oriented language or illustrations
- are looking for actual playing cards
The 50 Positions of Bondage Cards offer a lot of inspiration for exploring different types of bondage positions, different types of bondage gear, and at different levels of intensity. This simple set of bondage position cards can be played as a simple game with your partner(s) to determine which positions to explore during your session.
Accessible Kink
I like that you can play this game and enjoy these position cards without having a full collection of kinky tools at your disposal. The instructions suggest using regular household items to substitute specific types of bondage gear, like using a spatula or ping-pong paddle for spanking, or robe ties and belts instead of bondage rope and collars. Of course, when I suggest using household items for bondage alternative, I like to clarify that these items obviously aren’t designed for this type of use and may therefore be less comfortable and less safe to use at times. It’s important to be extra careful and take some extra safety precautions when using alternative products. There wasn’t really a disclaimer in regards to this, so I do hesitate to claim that this card deck is 100% beginner-friendly.What I Liked the Least:
My overall impression was that it’s a bit cheesy. And, yes, I know most sex games are always a little cheesy and I’ve seen a lot worse! Still, I’m not blown away by the aesthetics, the language, or the illustrations. It’s very heteronormative. Both the illustrations and language lack some realistic diversity (even though there AT LEAST is some diversity in skin tone). I would definitely prefer a card game that was more inclusive overallWhat I Liked The Most:
Despite not being 100% charmed by this card game, I still think my partner and I are in the target demographic for it. We are experienced with kink and BDSM, we have a lot of tools and toys at our disposal, and we know how to practice bondage safely. But we also often find ourselves lacking inspiration for specific bondage sessions. Even simple prompt for a simple position or scenario can easily fuel a very steamy session! So, we ended up having a lot of fun using these cards!
50 Positions of Bondage Cards Personally, the design just doesn't speak to me. It's not horribly unappealing. There's just nothing about the overall design that makes me super excited to play with the cards.
Overall, the 50 Positions of Bondage Cards are very easy to use. Each card even has a description of a given position on the back. That said, I wouldn't say it's ideal for complete beginners. There's not a lot of guidance on practicing safe BDSM play other than the encouragement to agree on a safe word. I'd say it's good for those who are a bit experienced and know the basics of safe bondage, and might just need some inspiration for different bondage positions.
The cards themselves are very similar to any other regular deck of playing cards with a glossy coating. They don't seem like premium quality cards that will last forever, but they definitely aren't bad quality cards. The quality of the game itself is similarly decent. It's not a very complicated game, and it's not really a game that you can truly win per se. Still, it's a nice activity to select a few positions to try for the evening.
The 50 Positions of Bondage Cards is super affordable. I think it's great value for money! I also like that there's no requirement to have a full collection of bondage gear at the ready in order to play this game or use these cards. Of course, having all sorts of tools is a great bonus but the instructions clearly state that it's possible to interpret each card differently and use whatever household items you have at your disposal.
The 50 Positions of Bondage Cards was super fun to use when my partner and I felt a bit uninspired. We enjoy a good, kinky session every now and then and we have a lot of different bondage gear at our disposal. Although, when life gets a bit busy, getting kinky (with tools and accessories) can seem like a lot of work. Using these cards as a prompt forced us to take the time to actually follow through with some of our favorite scenarios or fantasies!
The 50 Positions of Bondage Cards come in a small cardboard box that seems durable enough to be reused for storage. The box itself has some elegant yet explicit imaging on the front and some basic information about the game in English, Spanish, French, and German.
The quality of the card deck itself is fairly decent. They're definitely not completely waterproof but are regular glossy cards that seem to be easy to wipe down if you ever need to spot clean them.

- A great source of inspiration!
- Caters to many different languages
- Explanations included for each position card
- Can be played as an actual game
- Does not include much guidance on safe BDSM play
- Very heteronormative design and language
Even though I think the 50 Positions of Bondage Cards could use more inclusive language and feature more diverse people and bodies in their illustrations, I don't think it's a bad product. For straight couples, it's quite inoffensive and simple to use. I especially liked that you can play a little game with them even though they are not regular playing cards. For my partner and I who are experienced with bondage, the inspiration for different positions and different intensity levels was a nice way to create some unique experiences. If beginners were to use these cards, however, I would have preferred more guidance on practicing safe bondage play.
