The Velvet Thruster Mini Teddy XL is precisely what its name says it is—a thrusting dildo. It's a larger-sized toy than Velvet's other model, the Mini Teddy TX. The extra length gives more flexibility when using the toy and allows you to find the right thrusting angle more easily. The Mini Teddy XL also has a suction cup at the base, which allows you to secure the toy on any hard surface, like a coffee table, hardwood floor, or bathroom wall. The shaft is made to look and feel realistic, which is always a nice touch.
A Difficult Start
So, my very first time using the Mini Teddy XL wasn’t smooth. I had a hard time figuring out the right place to attach it to and the right angle for penetration. This toy requires lube to use, and the lube was everywhere, making switching the speeds difficult during use. Despite the struggles, we got to the happy ending. Yet, I was not very impressed.The Right Position
Obviously, just like with the new partner, it might take time to work out the kinks in the bedroom; the same applies to trying a new sex toy. So, the second time, I came with low expectations and walked out extremely satisfied. While Velvet says that the extra length of the Mini Teddy XL gives it more flexibility compared to the Mini Teddy, it is still a fairly hard dildo. It was less hard than some others I tried, but it was still pretty hard and difficult to manipulate. That might be an issue for some. It was definitely a reason why I had trouble the first time around. My second time with the toy, I found that using the dildo in a Cowgirl position worked the best for me. It gave easy access to the thrusting controls, allowed me to control the penetration depth and angle, and I could add clitoral stimulation when needed.Possible Downfalls
I love the Mini Teddy XL. It’s a high-quality thrusting dildo that feels luxurious and gets the job done. However, it’s pretty damn noisy. Even on the lower speed setting, the sound it makes is pretty loud. Not only could it be a potential issue for those who don’t have privacy, but it can sometimes take you out of the moment while using it. Another issue I had was the difficulty controlling the settings. Starting the sex toy is pretty straightforward — you press one button, and voila! However, if you want to switch up the thrusting speed, you have to scramble with the buttons on the base of the toy, and that really takes you out of the moment. A remote control function of some sort would make the experience much smoother.
There is no question that this thrusting dildo is high quality. It is sturdy and weighty, and the silicone feels soft and smooth against the skin. The base with the suction is durable and actually works. In the dark, the base also lights up, and depending on the speed setting, the color changes. And the realistic veins and the head of the dildo are a nice touch, in my opinion.
There is definitely a learning curve with this thrusting dildo. While suctioning it in place is easy and straightforward, and it's super easy to turn it on, changing the thrusting speed setting during use is pretty difficult. I had to scramble to find the right button to increase the speed, and in certain positions, I had to stop using the dildo to do that.
Hands down, this is one of the best quality sex toys I've tried. The medical-grade silicone is smooth and feels great. The color is super cute, and the whole design of what is essentially a portable fuck machine is phenomenal. Despite the great design and sturdiness, the noise is something to consider. It is pretty loud, and there is no way to stifle the sound other than using it while showing or playing loud music.
The price tag on this is a little bit hefty. While you certainly get a phenomenal quality thrusting dildo that will last you for years, I'm not sure it's worth the price, considering that it doesn't have a remote control function, doesn't vibrate, and doesn't offer different penetration angles.
Mini Teddy XL promises deep and intense thrusts and it definitely delivers on the promise. The thrusting speed options definitely feel amazing, the size is perfect (in my opinion), and the silicone feels great inside and out. However, the toy is a bit loud, which can be an interruption at times, and the shaft itself is pretty inflexible, so certain penetration angles don't feel as good. The battery holds very well and it charges surprisingly fast!
The toy came in a pretty simple cardboard box with the user manual inside and a charger. It was very simple packaging, nothing worth mentioning. Also, it didn't come with a storage pouch. Considering the price tag, I think it's a bit of a disappointment.

I'll be honest: the first time using it wasn't a smooth ride, but I got the hang of it the second time around. It's super cute as far as thrusting dildos go, while still realistic looking (which I kind of appreciate), very good quality, and does a great job at keeping the pace and the rhythm of thrusts that made me see stars. One caveat: the noise it makes will wake your roommates.
