The Aneros Helix Syn is a prostate massager that uses your pelvic floor muscles to stimulate your prostate. As you clench and release, the specially design plug rubs against your prostate for a manual massage. It also has two outer tabs that are meant to provide additional external stimulation. It's a rigid plug coated in smooth silicone, and measures 1 inch at the widest point.

The Aneros Helix Syn Trident was my first anal toy and although it comes with a bit of a learning curve, I liked that it was slim and not bulbed as it was less intimidating. This prostate massager is a little more difficult to use than a standard butt plug because you have to learn how to use your pelvic floor to move the plug to get prostate stimulation, but it also gives a lot in return. The first time I tried the Aneros, was during sex with my girlfriend and although it felt good, I didn’t get a whole lot from it and found it was taking my attention from the sex. After, I tried it a few times solo and got to understand how it works a bit better. I did have a couple of times where I just tried to focus on my prostate by slowing down and playing with the movements of the Aneros. I think this toy takes a level of curiosity and willingness to learn. It’s not a toy that’s just going to give you a prostate orgasm, unless you are really lucky! For me, I enjoy this plug most when paired with penile stimulation. I’m still exploring and experimenting and seeing if I can have a prostate orgasm. Overall, I’ve found this plug a really nice addition for when you want to have a little extra sensitivity. It’s also great during partnered sex as it stays put really well and doesn’t fall out when I move around. I also tried wearing to out for a short walk one day, and I wasn’t scared of it falling out.

Aneros talk about the design of their prostate massagers like the design of a top of the range car — "specially balanced for superior responsiveness." While I do think they take it a little too seriously, I have to say this design really works! The body of the plug has two bulbed sections that are angled towards the prostate and press up against it when you tense your pelvic floor muscles. Even though this is the slimmest plug I've tried, it actually stays put the best and I don't have to worry about it falling out at all. The base has two arms with little tabs on the end, one is meant to stimulate the perineum and the other is meant to stimulate the Kundalini Spot (this is where we get into Aneros Cult speak). I'm also not so sure many yogis would support Aneros' claims about the plug's ability to activate the "Kundalini spot."

Although the Aneros is easy to use in that it's very easy to insert, even as a beginner to anal play. However, it does come with a learning curve. This is really a case of the more you put in, the more you get out of it. The main task is learning how to engage your pelvic floor muscles to make the plug move against your prostate while it's inside of you. If you don't know how to locate and activate your pelvic floor or aren't willing to learn, this is just an expensive butt plug that doesn't offer the same full feeling you would usually get. However, if you do learn this, it's a great way to get to know your body and discover prostate stimulation. There's a whole lot of information on how to use the Aneros on their website and on forums for Aneros users where they share their experiences. I will say it does verge on being a little culty in places but you can still learn a lot and leave what's not for you!

The Aneros Helix Syn Trident is really top quality. It's simple but the design is very effective. On top of that, it has a really solid construction and uses great materials. This is a toy that will last and deliver a lot of fun for many years.

Although this little plug is quite a lot more than your standard butt plug, for what it offers, I would be happy to pay that price. It also keeps on giving, so the more you get to know how to use it, the more pleasurable it gets, so it doesn't get boring quickly like a standard butt plug might.

Although my Kundalini has not risen, this plug has given me a lot of pleasure. It's been a really welcome addition to partnered and solo sex and it can be really fun to combine it with a stroker, vibrator or even a handjob or blowjob! I like that it's easy to insert and unobtrusive but it also provides a nice level of stimulation and stays in place.

I don't usually care so much about packaging — the less there is, the better! I do like the design and think inner box with the magnetic opening and curved doors looks nice but I could have lived without the cardboard sleeve on and the plastic inlay.

The Aneros Helix Syn Trident is made from what feels like a hard plastic inner with a silicone covering. The silicone is very smooth and there's no friction when inserting it with some water-based lube. It's also very easy to clean — I just use warm water and soap before letting it dry. There's no storage bag so I've kept mine in the box but this takes up a lot of drawer space.

Aneros Helix Syn Trident -

  • Interesting learning experience
  • Stays put well
  • Great addition to all kinds of sex
  • Nice level of stimulation

  • Takes time and energy to figure out
  • Some extreme claims from company

It's a great toy if you want to learn more about your prostate and pelvic floor, but it does require a bit of work and openness to learning. It's not a toy that will necessarily get you off but I love what it adds to solo and partnered sex. The size and shape also work really well. Overall, I'm really happy to have this in my collection.
