System JO Water Based – Test & Review

I have said it before and I'll say it again, System JO lube bottles are some of the best on the market. The design is sleek and simple - The branding and and colouring is blue to represent water, as it is a water-based lube. JO often do this with their packing, which is great for someone with lots of JO lubes, so that I can easily decipher which lube is which. The simple wording doesn't make the design to buy and overwhelming - It is straight to the point. I love the transparent bottle and the way you can see the lube through the bottle, as it looks cleaner and higher quality. Sometimes, less is more... but I mean in the sense of packaging, not lube... Use as much lube as you want!

As this lube is mostly made of water, when washed off the skin using hot water, it comes off very easily. It doesn't linger after washing it off, or feel greasy, which I love. When I am finished with lube, I don't want to feel it on me for hours after! This lube is compatible with all condom types and sex toy materials, which I appreciate as I prefer to use silicone toys, so I try and avoid silicone or hybrid lubes. I really like using water-based lubes as they don't tend to get tacky or sticky, the longer you use them. I would highly recommend using this lube if you are planning to have sex for along period of time, as it is certainly going to last as long as you! I would also recommend using it with a Fleshlight sex toy, as it is a thin enough lube to make it feel more natural.

The System JO Water-based lube is FDA approved, like all other System JO products, showing that it has been through tests. This is important to me, as this is a product that is going to be interacting with my body, so I find comfort in knowing that it is safe enough to use. This lube has a neutral pH of 7, showing that it is mostly made of water. This is a god reading for a lube, as it is less likely to negatively impact he acidic pH of a vulva. If you are a vulva owner that is susceptible to infections, then maybe this lube isn't the best match for you, as it does contain parabens and glycerin, which contain sugar, of which increases the chances of bacterial growth in the vulva. The ingredients in this lube are: Parabens, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Cellulose Gum, Menthol, Methylparaben and Propylparaben.

Water based lubes are typically not as expensive as silicone based lubes, as they are made of cheaper materials. The price of this lube is in the low-mid price range - I don't think this product is too expensive, but it isn't the cheapest water based lube on the market. I think that for a high quality product from a reliable and recognisable brand, this lube is not that expensive. Sure, there is nothing special about it, but it isn't a bad product, just because it is basic.

The viscosity of this lube is thin and smooth when on the skin. It feels very natural and realistic, unlike some thicker lubes. It is a very wet lube that lasts for a long time without needing reapplication. If you want to avoid it drying out when using it with a partner, then only a small amount is needed to make it slippery again. This lube would be great for all sexual activity whether that is sex with a partner, by yourself or with a sex toy. I would recommend this lube when using penis related or vulva related toys. I perhaps wouldn't recommend using this toy for large anal toys, I would recommend a thicker, more cushioning lube, to ensure the maximum amount of comfort.

I love that the bottle is tall and large, as I feel like I am getting more product for my buck. The bottle is made of thin plastic that is flexible and easy to squeeze. This is an important feature to me, as I have used other bottles that have been too hard to squeeze, so I don't end up using all of the product inside the bottle. The click-close lid is one of my favourite types of lid as I can aim the lube accurately onto my desired area of the body, or onto a sex toy. i usually prefer having these types of lids, because when I have lube on my hands, I find it hard to unscrew it! Yet, the downside to having a click-close lid is that if I was to travel with this lube, it has a higher chance of popping open and leaking, than a lube with a screw close lid. Also, this large bottle may not be small enough to take as a travel sized bottle, so I would have to dispense into a more appropriately sized bottle.

This is a water-based lube, so when I reacts with clothing or bedsheets, it spreads like when water is spilt on cloth. Yet, once the clothing has been washed, it doesn't leave a lasting stain on the sheets. This is also helped by the fact that it is a translucent liquid and doesn't have any colours in it. It also doesn't stain skin and can be washed off easily using hot water.
