This Lovehoney blindfold has a rectangular shape edged with faux leather, inside of which is a flexible wire frame so that you can bend it to fit your face. There are two long satin ties on either side to secure the blindfold on your head.
As soon as I laid eyes on this blindfold, I loved how it looked. I love a big bow and some silky fabric, so I was just hoping that it felt as nice as it appeared! Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long before I could test it out. Once it was tied on, I was immediately surprised at how comfortable it was, and how much light it blocked out! I did suspect that the moldable eye mask was a little gimmicky, but it actually worked very well to help the mask conform to my face without pushing on my eyeballs (looking at you Black Rose blindfold). While I obviously couldn’t see the bow on the back of my head, I liked the feeling of looking cute but sexy for my partner, which is not something I’ve experienced while wearing our plain old sleep mask before! The only downside I noticed was that, since I had a big knot at the back of my head, I could feel it a bit when lying on my back. On the bed, this wasn’t much of an issue, but it could be more uncomfortable if you’re lying on a hard surface. I was worried that it would fall down a bit, but the moldable eye piece actually kept in place well if the ties were tied tight enough.
I really like the design of this blindfold. It's understated, but the long satin ties feel luxurious and the large, moldable eye mask is a nice touch that allows you to customize the fit. However, it would be nice if the ties were a bit longer, so that I could tie a nice big bow at the back of my apparently quite large head.
This blindfold isn't quite a 'slip on and go' affair, since you have to tie it at the back. It does make it more adjustable, however, and if there's only going to be one person wearing it, you can simply tie it once and then slip it on and off your head. The only other issue is that, depending on how you tie it, you might experience an uncomfortable bump on the back of your head when you lie down wearing it.
While the satin material does feel luxurious, it is only polyester, and so I couldn't give it the highest rating for quality. However, it does feel well-made and long-lasting.
At $17, this obviously isn't the cheapest blindfold you can buy. At your local drugstore, there are probably sleep masks for $4-5, but this one looks a lot nicer and works just as well, if not better! If you're looking for an elegant accessory that helps you get into a spicy mood, I think this is totally worth it.
I was surprised at how well this blindfold blocked out light. Despite its lightweight design, the mask is thick enough that it doesn't let any light through, and the bendable design means that you can get it really close to your skin without it feeling tight. I'm not someone who sleeps with a mask on regularly, but I have been known to on occasion. However, I don't think this blindfold would be very suitable for that, given the slippery material and the bow at the back. It's more likely to slip off during the night, or to be uncomfortable on your head if you're a back sleeper.
I was really hoping for more when it came to the packaging. Yeah yeah, it's just a blindfold, but first impressions are everything! The Lovehoney Silky Black Blindfold comes in a simple, clear plastic bag with some Lovehoney Tease branding on the front. It is sealed, which is nice, but not exactly a luxurious unboxing experience.
While Lovehoney don't explicitly state it, this blindfold is most likely made from polyester satin. The "Silky" name is just a description of how the satin feels, not what it's made from (since real silk would be much more expensive). I wouldn't expect anything else from a blindfold at this price point, so I'm totally fine with it, since it also means it should last fairly well without getting ripped or stained. There is also a metal wire inside the eye piece to help it stay in place once you mold it to the shape you'd like, and a strip of plastic 'leather' on the outside, covering the wire.

The Lovehoney Silky Blindfold is simple, but has a few special touches that make it a really appealing blindfold! I love how feminine and fun it feels, and it works great for blocking out light when you're playing with a partner.
