The Lovehoney Black Bondage Tape sticks to itself without any glue or adhesive. The flexible PVC material acts much like a window-cling for easy stick and removal. It can be used to bind any part of the body as well as act as a gag, blindfold, or body-wrap.
First Impressions
When I opened the box, I thought for sure I’d ordered shiny, black duct tape. The size and packaging were identical but when I pulled the end, I was happily surprised that it was that same material on the “sticky side,” too. I liked how it looked and felt. It didn’t seem like there was a lot on the roll, but it’s reusable, so that made me feel better. In the Moment
My partner and I are new to bondage so we were excited to role-play and test the strength and versatility of the Lovehoney Black Bondage Tape. After a bit of teasing, my hands were wrapped up. I opted to fist my palms and hold my wrists together to see how effective that would be. It was very easy to use the tape to bind them this way, but with vigorous movement/struggle, the tape became lax and I was able to twist my hands and break free. Because the tape is reusable, it can quickly be wrapped again. The bad news is that it becomes less effective if any moisture gets on it. Also, much like adhesive tape, it will stick to itself and tends to bunch up or roll. My partner isn’t a fan of being the sub but was willing to humor me for the sake of research. I bound his wrists crossed, and this seemed to be a better plan, but he was also able to break free easily. I suppose we could also use the tape around the bedpost or on the ankles might be more effective. Wrapping wrists to thighs would also be fun and maybe not come apart as easily. Maybe next time!Verdict
The tape, itself, is portable, reusable, and comfortably doesn’t leave marks or bruises. When used as a blindfold it doesn’t stick to the hair or pull out eyelashes/eyebrows. It also makes a nice wrap around the breasts or as a choker around the neck. It’s secure enough to apply an “uncomfortable” pressure but flexible enough to not cut off circulation unless it’s been applied too tightly (which I do not recommend!). The biggest drawback is that, in the heat-of-the-moment, it becomes difficult to use. It doubles up on itself, kinks, or takes two (dry) hands to make it secure. We will definitely use it again (especially when we travel) because practice makes perfect, but so far, we prefer a pair of leather cuff restraints. The shiny, black PVC material is very sleek. Visually, it resembles vinyl/faux leather and would work with any BDSM aesthetic. It is strong and flexible but we were still able to rip it with our hands without needing scissors, which is a good thing in the moment.
This bondage tape is easy to open, find an end, and wrap. It sticks almost too well because it tends to roll into itself and is difficult to pull apart. While it is waterproof, it won't stick to itself when wet. If you have any dexterity or mobility issues, this may not be the product for you.
The Lovehoney Black Bondage Tape is made well and feels like it. The PVC material is thin and can be ripped with your fingers, but is also strong and flexible. It can be stretched without breaking.
With 20m in each roll, no adhesive, and being reusable makes me very happy with the low price. It is a cheap way to experiment with light bondage for someone who is just starting out. For the more advanced, it is a great, portable option for a "sex kit" or toy box.
The tape did exactly what I thought it would do. We were able to bind each other and even used it as a blindfold. It didn't hurt or bruise, and was easy to use. However, we were easily able to get free with a little bit of struggle. While using it as a blindfold was nice and adhesive-free, any movement adjusted it and provided escape.
The tape is packaged almost exactly like a duct tape you'd find at any hardware store. If you had it in a purse or suitcase and someone saw it, they might think that's what you have in there — very discreet.
The Lovehoney Black Bondage Tape is waterproof and doesn't "stick" when wet but this makes it easy to clean if you want to reuse it. Once it's dry, it works again. It is light and portable. It is the perfect alternative to traditional, adhesive tapes.

- Perfect for anyone with allergy or sensitivity to adhesive.
- Soft and flexible.
- Doesn't cut into skin.
- Won't pull out hairs when struggling or removing.
- It can be difficult to tear in the heat of the moment.
- Anyone with dexterity or mobility issues may have challenges.
- Any slight twist or bad angle will make it fold in on itself.
- Easy to get out of with a small amount of effort/struggle.
As someone with sensitivity to adhesives, the Lovehoney Black Bondage Tape appealed to me. I love reading Dark Romance and duct tape always seemed like a bad move so, as an alternative, this product is a no-brainer for anyone's bedside drawer or "sex kit."
