Initial Impressions

The Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System was packaged very simply in an appropriately-colored scarlet and red box. The toy was rolled up nicely in the box and required no assembly or tying of knots. It did actually feel a bit daunting when I first laid the pieces of the toy out on the floor; the restraint cords were very long and I felt nervous about trying to fit it all under a mattress. After laying the toy out on the floor and noticing this, I noticed that that there were no instructions included. However, as you will read in the next section, the restraints turned out to be very easy to set up and use. Additionally, I noticed that the cuffs that would go around ankles and wrists were incredibly soft and appeared to be made of a nice velvet-like material.

Setup

Since I would be adding the Scarlet Couture restraints to a king size bed, I was a bit worried that they wouldn’t fit, but I kept in mind that the box listed the restraints as compatible with most common bed sizes (including king size). I lifted up the mattress and placed the Scarlet Couture system as close to the center as I could. Then, I made sure that the restraint ends reached to the end of the bed on each side. As there were no instructions, I wasn’t sure if the restraints would be situated at each corner or at the head and foot of the bed. I decided to let the restraints hang out at the head and foot instead of at each corner of the bed. I felt this would give us more opportunity to adjust later on.

First Use

I tried the Scarlet Couture restraints with my partner and we both appreciated how soft the cuffs were against our skin. It was also nice to know that we could adjust the tightness of the restraints during use without having to lift up the mattress as there was a pull tab for tightening located very close to the cuffs. When playing around with the tightness of the restraints, I realized that they could have extended to each corner of the bed if they were pulled tight–this would just depend on how tight you would like them to be.

Other uses

We tried the Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System at a later date as well and in doing so, it made me realize that the restraints were very easy to pull out from under the bed. In this instance, we used the wrist restraints only and they were simple to put on and store away by tucking them back under the mattress.

The Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System has an incredibly simple design; one long piece of restraint material in the middle of the bed with 'T' shaped lengths on either end which extend to the head and foot of the bed. On each end is a cuff made of soft velvet-like material. Everything but the cuffs were made of a strong nylon material. To provide more options, it would have been nice to have tighter fitting cuffs for small sized wrists (they were secured with Velcro).

The restraints were simple to use as they only required us to pull them out from beneath the mattress before use. We could even tighten the restraints during use without having to lift up the mattress. This ability to change the tightness quickly made play with the toy more exciting.

All parts of the Bondage Restraint System seemed to be of good quality and nothing stood out as a piece that might break in the near future. Most pieces were made of strong woven nylon. There were tabs to tighten the restraints and these were made of plastic but they seemed to be of solid thickness. The cuffs themselves were very soft and were secured around the wrist and ankles with Velcro. After two times testing this item, there were no issues with quality.

The Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System is so simple to use and store away unobtrusively until the next use. Currently, at the time of writing this review, this item was $49.99 on adameve.com and with a coupon code, it was just $25. At $25, I feel this item is definitely worth the price. As it is such a simple design, I felt that $50 was too high of a price as it really was composed of lengths of nylon. Adam & Eve frequently has sale prices and if this item is on sale, I feel that it is very much worth the price.

In general, the performance of this restraint system lived up to any expectations I had. Judging by reviews on Adam & Eve, many reviews were very positive and after testing, I feel the same. The restraints stayed in place during use and weren't distracting nor did they slip out from underneath the bed. They are a perfect addition to a sex toy collection!

The packaging for the Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System was fairly simple; just a box to contain the rolled up restraints. I appreciated the vivid, shiny color of the box which certainly stood out as I opened the package it was shipped in. As no instruction pamphlet was included, there were some tips listed on the back of the packaging which were helpful. The box also listed which bed sizes were compatible (all sizes).

All materials used in the Bed Bondage System seemed to be strong and of high quality: nylon, ABS plastic pull tabs for tightening, velvet-like material for the cuffs, and Velcro to secure them. It is easy to spot clean if needed with a damp cloth. Most importantly, no knot tying or tools are required to set up or store this item.

  • Cuffs could be tighter/more secure

In general, the Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System is a great addition to any mattress. After initial setup, it is extremely simple to use and store after use. All materials used in the restraints and cuffs seem to be of very high quality and durable. With regard to this, Adam & Eve provides a five year warranty, furthering my belief that this item will last for awhile. If I were to need another under bed restraint system, I would buy this one without a second thought if it is on sale at Adam & Eve.

There is no user manual on the manufacturer’s website (Adam & Eve) besides a brief description. However, once you have this item in-hand, it is relatively simple to setup. Take a look at my How To guide for some ideas.

Yes, they will fit all common bed sizes.

Once you have the Scarlet Couture Bed Bondage System placed under your mattress, it is mostly just a matter of loosening or tightening it to your liking. It is relatively simple and I'd recommend two people set it up especially if you have a large, heavy mattress.

Not all; they don't take up much space and are easy to tuck underneath a mattress.

No, though I found that the restraints are very customizable. Whether you prefer to be tightly strapped to the bed or have the ability to move a lot, either is possible.

I believe that all pieces of the restraint system are of high quality nylon and can withstand tension. Over time, if anything does break, I would definitely buy a second one especially when it goes on sale.
