  • regular ball gags seem intimidating to you
  • want a durable and long-lasting ball gag
  • want a ball gag that's easy to clean thoroughly

  • enjoy the look of a traditional ball gag
  • try to avoid leather products

The Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is silicone ball gag with a unique pacifier-inspired design. This design allows the gag to sit comfortably in the mouth while still providing sufficient sound muffling and a satisfying feeling of fullness. The bulbous gag has an impressive diameter of 1.6 inches but the slim neck takes the pressure off your jaw, making it a better option for complete beginner. The gags itself is made of Tantus' own formula of Ultra-premium silicone and can be removed from the straps to be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized. The straps are made of genuine leather and have a velcro fastening at the back.

Unboxing

When I first opened the packaging for the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag, I was a bit confused about how to assemble it. The steps are fairly simple and it doesn’t really require much ‘assembly’. I was just confused because the straps seemed way too wide to be able to fit through the small holes in the silicone of the gag. I had to conclude that it needed to be stretched out and forced through, and went to work! After a bit of tugging and pulling, I succeeded. Although, the leather straps still seemed to look squished and I couldn’t help but worry that I was going to ruin this nice ball gag. Once it was assembled, I also noticed that the seam of the silicone on the base of the gag was a bit messy. Admittedly, the unboxing of the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag did make me quite skeptical of its overall quality. Luckily, the performance could prove me wrong!

Back to Basics

Actually using the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag changed everything. The design itself was very pleasant to wear. The gag was breathable and I could easily fasten the velcro straps myself. Even though I’m not a complete beginner when it comes to ball gags, this one is definitely the most comfortable one I have ever tried! I can see myself wearing it for longer sessions, or for when I’m in the need of something less intense and restrictive. This was when I really noticed how the quality of the materials themselves made a difference. The silicone is squishy yet firm, making it super comfortable to bite down on. Both the leather and the silicone will last a long time with the proper care, as well!

I think the design of the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is pretty innovative. That pacifier-inspired design means that the bulbous tip fits comfortably in the back of the mouth while the lips rest around the slimmer neck of the gag. This meant that my jaw wasn't open in an uncomfortable angle for a longer period of time. I could also breathe pretty comfortably through it, so it didn't feel as intense as with a regular solid ball gag. My main complaint is what the gag looks like when it's inserted and secured. The flat base is quite simple. Now, this wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the messy seams along the silicone around the base. Aesthetically, it's not something I feel particularly sexy wearing.

The Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is extremely easy to use. The gag itself fits snugly into the mouth and the velcro straps are easy to fasten around the head. The only thing that was a bit tricky was getting the straps through the holes in the silicone, since these were almost too small for the width of the straps. Once they're in, though, they're pretty secure.

I think the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is a great quality product. It's made with quality materials that will make the gag safe and comfortable to use for years and years. However, one point of critique I have is how the edges of the silicone look a bit messy. This doesn't really affect the functionality of the gag. I just think it makes it look like a poorer quality toy when I know for a fact that it isn't. The holes for the straps also don't seem to be quite big enough for the width of the straps. I had to the stretch the silicone quite a bit for them to go through! All of this combined, makes the quality feel a bit sloppy, which is unfortunate given the good quality of the materials themselves.

I think the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is pretty reasonably priced. I wouldn't call it an "affordable" option but it definitely isn't overpriced either. You're getting a good quality ball gag with a unique design. Considering the premium quality materials this ball gag is made from, I think the price is fair. It's also very durable and long-lasting, so it's a toy that you'll be able to enjoy for many years.

I admit that I was skeptical of the size when I first tried the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag. It just seemed way too big for a beginner. However, the pacifier-inspired design definitely made a big difference to the overall experience. It made it a lot more comfortable to wear and was more breathable than a regular solid ball gag. It didn't do well at muffling sounds but, luckily, that's not really my main purpose of using gags. The velcro fastening was easy to use and fit well with my head size. Although, I can understand why people with much smaller heads may want the velcro strip to be a bit longer to secure the straps properly.

As with most Tantus products I've received in the past, the packaging is pretty simple. Plastic casing displays the toy itself and there's a bit of additional information about the product printed on the cardboard inside the plastic. At this price, however, I could have used a storage bag. Even though the product itself is fully display, I am glad that the packaging doesn't feature any cheesy or explicit pictures.

The Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is made of Tantus' own premium silicone formula and the straps are made of genuine leather. The gag itself can be removed from the straps and sterilized in boiling water for thorough cleaning, while the straps can be wiped down with a damp cloth. For long-term maintenance, I recommend using a saddle soap or leather conditioner on the straps once in a while.

  • Gag can be removed from the straps for easy cleaning
  • The silicone gag can be fully sterilized
  • Genuine leather straps are durable and long-lasting
  • Comfortable yet restrictive

  • The velcro strip could be longer to accommodate smaller heads
  • The surface of the silicone easily collects dust and lint
  • Doesn't muffle sound very well

I think the Tantus Beginner Ball Gag is a great option for beginners who are a bit intimidated by the shape and concept of regular ball gags. This unique design really takes a lot of the pressure off the jaw and allows you to enjoy the fullness of the gag without too much strain. The slim neck also makes it a lot more breathable compared to other solid ball gags. It's made of high quality materials, and I like how easy it is to clean thoroughly. It also seems very durable and I have a feeling it will last me many many years! I'm not a big fan of what the gag looks like when I'm wearing it, though. The flat panel on the base of the gag has a few imperfections in the seam of the silicone that make it look a bit cheap. This is unfortunate since I genuinely think it's a decent quality ball gag. I like that the straps are easy to fasten and adjust with the velcro. Although, since the velcro strip isn't very long, I can imagine anyone with a much smaller head might struggle to secure it properly.
